Gather yourselves and collect, O nation not longing.

Before the decree gives birth, like chaff a day passes, before the anger of יהוה comes upon you, before the day of the anger of יהוה comes upon you.

Seek יהוה, all humble ones of the earth who have done His judgment. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be hidden on the day of the anger of יהוה.

For Gaza will be abandoned and Ashkelon a desolation. Ashdod will be driven out at midday, and Ekron will be uprooted.

Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of יהוה is against you, O Canaan, land of the Pelishtim, and I will destroy you so that no inhabitant remains.

And the seacoast will be pastures, folds for shepherds, and enclosures for flocks.

And the coastline will be for the remnant of the house of Yehudah. They will graze upon them; in the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down in the evening. For יהוה their Elohim will visit them and restore their fortunes.

I have heard the taunt of Mo'av and the insults of the sons of 'Ammon, with which they have taunted My people and magnified themselves against the border of My land.

Therefore, as I live, declares יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el, surely Mo'av will become like Sodom, and the sons of 'Ammon like Gomorrah, a place of nettles and salt pits, and a desolation forever. The remnant of My people will plunder them, and the remnant of the nations will inherit them.

This is what they will get for their pride, because they have taunted and magnified themselves against the people of יהוה of hosts.

יהוה will be awesome against them, for He will starve out all the gods of the earth, and they will bow down to Him, each from his place, all the islands of the nations.

You also, Cushites, will be slain by the sword of My might.

And He will stretch out His hand against the north and destroy Assyria, and make Nineveh a desolation, dry like the desert.

And flocks will lie down in the midst of her, all the wild animals of the nations. Both the pelican and the screech owl will roost on her capitals. A voice will sing in the window; desolation will be on the threshold; for He has stripped the cedar.

This is the exultant city that lived carelessly, that said in her heart, 'I am, and there is none besides me.' How has she become a desolation, a lair for wild animals! Everyone who passes by her will whistle, will shake his hand.
