FAQ
Does the app need internet? Reading, search, bookmarks, and Strong's definitions work fully offline. Chapter audio is online only — it streams from miqra.paleotimes.org when you press play and is not downloaded or saved for offline listening. Optional Settings links open in Safari.
What content is included? The complete Tanakh (39 books): Hebrew, transliteration, and English, plus an offline Hebrew Strong's lexicon.
How do I move between chapters? In the reader, swipe left for the next chapter and right for the previous chapter, or use the arrow buttons in the toolbar (on Mac, use the arrow buttons). Use the back button to return to the chapter list.
How do I change the text columns or font size? In Settings → Text Columns, turn Hebrew, Transliteration, and English on or off (at least one stays on). In Settings → Reading, set the font size from 14 to 28 pt.
How do Strong's definitions work? In Settings, turn on Hebrew and Strong's Numbers, then tap any Hebrew word or Strong's number in the reader. No internet is needed.
How do I search? Open the Search tab and enter Hebrew, transliteration, or English (up to 200 characters). Tap a result to open the verse.
How do I bookmark or share a verse? Long-press a verse (right-click on Mac) and choose Bookmark or Share, or use Bookmark visible verse from the reader's ⋯ menu (it bookmarks the verse in the middle of the screen). Saved verses appear in the Bookmarks tab; tap Edit to delete them.
How does chapter audio work? In Settings, turn on Audio (off by default) and choose an English or Hebrew track. In the reader, use the audio bar to play, pause, and seek, or tap ▶ beside a verse to start there. The verse being spoken is highlighted; with Read along on, the reader also scrolls to follow it. Continuous play moves on to the next chapter. Play and pause from the Lock Screen, Control Center, or the banner on the Read tab (next/previous chapter work there too, and the reader follows the chapter that is playing). Audio requires an internet connection.
How do I listen in CarPlay? Connect your iPhone to CarPlay, open Biblical Scrolls, and pick the Torah, Prophets, or Writings tab, then a book and chapter. Long books are split into chapter ranges so every chapter is reachable while driving. Continue Listening at the top of each tab resumes where you left off. Use the car's next/previous controls to change chapters; on Now Playing, the speed button changes playback speed and Chapters opens the current book's chapter list. CarPlay audio also streams online and does not require the in-app Audio setting.
Audio won't play? Check your internet connection and that Audio is turned on in Settings.
Do bookmarks sync? No. Bookmarks and reading position are stored only on your device.
How do I report a text error? Email us with the book, chapter, verse, and description, or tap the ⚑ flag on a verse in the web reader.
App won't open? Force-quit, restart your device, or reinstall the app. Reinstalling removes local bookmarks.
