Open your doors, Lebanon, and fire will consume your cedars.

Wail, cypress, for the cedar has fallen, for the majestic ones are destroyed. Wail, oaks of Bashan, for the dense forest has come down.

A voice of wailing of shepherds, for their splendor is destroyed. A voice of roaring of lions, for the pride of the Jordan is destroyed.

Thus says יהוה my Elohim: Shepherd the flock destined for slaughter.

Those who slaughter them kill them and are not held guilty, and those who sell them say, 'Blessed be יהוה, for I have become rich,' and their shepherds do not have compassion on them.

For I will no longer have compassion on the inhabitants of the land, declares יהוה. And behold, I will cause each person to strike his neighbor and each person his fellow countryman, and the land will be shattered, and I will not rescue from their hand.

So I shepherded the flock destined for slaughter, therefore the afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two staffs; the one I called Favor, and the other I called Chains, and I shepherded the flock.

And I eliminated the three shepherds in one month, and my soul grew impatient with them, and their soul also loathed me.

Then I said, 'I will not shepherd you. Whoever is dying shall die, and whoever is perishing shall perish, and those who are left shall eat, each person the flesh of her neighbor.'

And I took my staff, Favor, and I cut it in two to annul my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.

And it was annulled on that day, and the afflicted of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of יהוה.

And I said to them, 'If it is good in your eyes, give me my wages; and if not, stop.' And they weighed out my wages, thirty pieces of silver.

Then יהוה said to me, 'Throw it to the potter, the magnificent price at which I was valued by them.' And I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of יהוה.

Then I cut in two my second staff, Chains, to annul the brotherhood between Yehudah and Yisra'el.

Then יהוה said to me, 'Take for yourself the equipment of a foolish shepherd.'

For behold, I am raising up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are perishing; the young one he will not seek, and the broken one he will not heal, and the one standing he will not sustain, and the flesh of the fat one he will eat, and their hoofs he will tear off.

Woe to the worthless shepherd who abandons the flock! A sword will be on his arm and on his right eye. His arm will surely dry up, and his right eye will surely become dim.
