And Naomi had a relative of her husband, a man of great wealth, from the clan of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.

And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, 'Please, let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after whom I may find favor in his eyes.' And she said to her, 'Go, my daughter.'

And she went and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and it happened that her portion of the field belonged to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech.

And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and he said to the reapers, 'יהוה be with you.' And they said to him, 'יהוה bless you.'

And Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, 'Whose is this young woman?'

And the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered and said, 'She is a young Moabite woman who returned with Naomi from the fields of Moab.'

And she said, 'Please, let me glean and gather among the sheaves after the reapers.' And she came and stood from the morning until now; she has rested in the house a little.'

And Boaz said to Ruth, 'Did you not hear, my daughter? Do not go to glean in another field, and also do not pass from here, but rather stay with my young women.'

Let your eyes be on the field which they are reaping, and go after them. Indeed, I have commanded the young men not to touch you, and when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men draw.'

And she fell on her face and bowed herself to the ground, and she said to him, 'Why have I found favor in your eyes, to notice me, when I am a foreigner?'

And Boaz answered and said to her, 'It has been fully told to me all that you have done for your mother-in-law after the death of your husband, and that you have left your father and your mother and your land of birth, and have gone to a people whom you did not know yesterday or the day before.'

May יהוה repay your deed, and may your reward be complete from יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.'

And she said, 'May I find favor in your eyes, my Adonai, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken to the heart of your servant, and yet I am not like one of your servant girls.'

And Boaz said to her, 'At mealtime, come here and eat from the bread, and dip your piece in the sour wine.' And she sat beside the reapers, and he scooped roasted grain for her, and she ate and was satisfied and had leftovers.

And she got up to glean, and Boaz commanded his young men, saying, 'Even among the sheaves you may glean, and you shall not shame her.'

And also, you shall drop for her some from the bundles, and leave them, and she may glean, and you shall not rebuke her.'

And she gleaned in the field until evening, and she threshed what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.

And she took it up and came to the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned, and she took out and gave her what she had left over from her satisfaction.

And her mother-in-law said to her, 'Where did you glean today, and where did you work? May the one who noticed you be blessed.' And she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and she said, 'The name of the man with whom I worked today is Boaz.'

And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, 'May he be blessed by יהוה, who has not withdrawn his kindness from the living and from the dead.' And Naomi said to her, 'The man is close to us, he is our redeemer.'

And Ruth the Moabitess said, 'He even said to me, 'You shall stay with my young women until they have finished all the harvest that belongs to me.''

And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, 'It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, and they do not encounter you in another field.'

And she stayed with the young women of Boaz to glean until the end of the barley harvest and the wheat harvest, and she lived with her mother-in-law.
