A psalm of Asaph. O Elohim, nations have come into Your inheritance; they have defiled Your holy temple; they have made Yerushalayim into ruins.

They have given the corpses of Your servants as food to the birds of the sky, the flesh of Your devoted ones to the beasts of the earth.

They have poured out their blood like water all around Yerushalayim, and there is no one to bury.

We have become a reproach to our neighbors, mockery and scorn to those around us.

How long, יהוה, will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?

Pour out Your wrath upon the nations that do not know You, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon Your name.

For they have devoured Ya'aqov, and they have made his dwelling place desolate.

Do not remember against us the iniquities of former times; may Your mercies quickly meet us, for we have been brought very low.

Help us, O Elohim of our salvation, for the sake of the glory of Your name; and deliver us, and atone for our sins, for Your name's sake.

Why should the nations say, 'Where is their Elohim?' Let it be known among the nations before our eyes, the vengeance for the blood of Your servants that has been poured out.

Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; according to the greatness of Your power, preserve those condemned to death.

And repay our neighbors sevenfold into their laps their reproach with which they have reproached You, Adonai.

And we, Your people and the sheep of Your pasture, will give thanks to You forever; to generation after generation we will recount Your praise.
