Elohim, with our ears we heard; our fathers told us, a work You worked in their days, in days of old.

You, Your hand, nations You dispossessed; and You planted them. You struck peoples, and You sent them out.

For not with their sword did they inherit land, and their arm did not save them. But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your face, for You favored them.

You, You are my King, Elohim; command salvations for Ya'aqov.

Through You, our adversaries we will push through; in Your name we will trample those who rise against us.

For not in my bow will I trust, and my sword will not save me.

For You saved us from our adversaries, and You shamed our haters.

In Elohim we will boast all day, and in Your name we will give thanks forever. Selah.

But You rejected and You shamed us, and You do not go out with our armies.

You turn us back from the adversary, and our haters plunder for themselves.

You give us as sheep for eating, and among the nations You scattered us.

You sell Your people for nothing, and You do not increase wealth from their price.

You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a mockery and a scorn to those around us.

You make us a proverb among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

All day my shame is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me.

From the voice of one who reproaches and blasphemes, from the face of an enemy and an avenger.

All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You, and we have not lied concerning Your covenant.

Our heart has not turned back, and our steps have not strayed from Your path.

For You have crushed us in a place of jackals, and You have covered us with darkness.

If we have forgotten the name of our Elohim, and have spread out our hands to a foreign Elohim.

Will not Elohim search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

For because of You we are killed all day; we are counted as sheep for slaughter.

Awake! Why do You sleep, Adonai? Rouse Yourself! Do not reject us forever.

Why do You hide Your face? You forget our affliction and our oppression?

For our soul has sunk to the dust; our belly has cleaved to the ground.

Rise up! Help us, and redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness.
