A Psalm of David, for instruction. Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Blessed is the man to whom יהוה does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all day long.

For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah.

I confessed my sin to you, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to יהוה,' and you, you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

For this, everyone who is godly will pray to you at a time when you may be found; surely in a flood of great waters, they shall not reach him.

You are my hiding place; you preserve me from distress; you surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Do not be like a horse or a mule without understanding, whose muzzle must be restrained with bit and bridle, lest they come near to you.

Many are the pains of the wicked, but he who trusts in יהוה, steadfast love surrounds him.

Be glad in יהוה and rejoice, you righteous, and give thanks to all you upright in heart.
