To the director, for the servant of יהוה, for David, who spoke to יהוה the words of this song, on the day יהוה delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Sha'ul.

And he said, 'I will love you, יהוה, my strength.'

יהוה is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my Elohim, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I will call out, 'Praised be יהוה,' and from my enemies I will be saved.

The cords of death surrounded me, and the torrents of wickedness terrified me.

The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called to יהוה, and to my Elohim I cried out; from his temple he heard my voice, and my cry before him came into his ears.

Then the earth shook and trembled; and the foundations of the mountains quaked and shook, because he was angry.

Smoke went up from his nostrils, and fire from his mouth devoured; coals burned from him.

He bowed the heavens and came down; and darkness was under his feet.

He rode on a cherub and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.

He made darkness his hiding place, his surrounding tent of water, clouds of the skies.

From the brightness before him, his clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.

And יהוה thundered in the heavens, and the Most High gave his voice, hail and coals of fire.

And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he sent out lightning and routed them.

Then the channels of water appeared, and the foundations of the world were exposed at your rebuke, יהוה, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.

He sent from on high; he took me; he drew me out of many waters.

He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.

They confronted me on the day of my calamity, and יהוה became my support.

He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

יהוה rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he repaid me.

For I have kept the ways of יהוה and have not acted wickedly against my Elohim.

For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

And I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity.

And יהוה repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes.

With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless.

With the pure you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you show yourself shrewd.

For you save the afflicted people, but bring down the haughty eyes.

For you light my lamp; יהוה my Elohim illuminates my darkness.

For by you I run through a troop, and by my Elohim I leap over a wall.

The Elohim, his way is perfect; the word of יהוה is tested; he is a shield to all who take refuge in him.

For who is Elohim except יהוה? And who is a rock except our Elohim?

The Elohim who girds me with strength and makes my way blameless.

He makes my feet like the feet of deer and sets me on my high places.

He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand has sustained me, and your humility has made me great.

You enlarge my steps under me, and my ankles did not slip.

I pursue my enemies and overtake them, and I will not turn back until they are destroyed.

I will strike them down so that they cannot rise; they will fall under my feet.

You girded me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries fall under me.

You gave my enemies my back, and I will cut off those who hate me.

They cried out, but there was no one to save them; to יהוה, but he did not answer.

I will crush them like dust before the wind; like the dirt of the streets I will trample them.

You will deliver me from the disputes of the people; you will make me the head of nations; a people I did not know will serve me.

At the hearing of the ear, they will obey me; strangers will lie to me.

Strangers will fade away and will limp from their fortresses.

יהוה lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the Elohim of my salvation.

The Elohim who gives me vengeance and subdues peoples under me.

My deliverer from my enemies; indeed, from my adversaries you will lift me up; from the man of violence you will save me.

Therefore I will thank you among the nations, יהוה, and sing praises to your name.

He is the great deliverer of his king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David and to his offspring forever.
