And these are the generations of Aharon and Mosheh in the day יהוה spoke with Mosheh on Mount Sinai.

And these are the names of the sons of Aharon: the firstborn Nadav, and Avihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

These are the names of the sons of Aharon, the anointed priests, whom he consecrated to minister.

And Nadav and Avihu died before יהוה when they offered strange fire before יהוה in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no sons. And Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the presence of Aharon their father.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying:

Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aharon the priest, and they shall minister to him.

And they shall keep his charge and the charge of the whole assembly before the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the Tabernacle.

And they shall keep all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting, and the charge of the sons of Yisra'el, to do the service of the Tabernacle.

And you shall give the Levites to Aharon and to his sons; they are wholly given to him from the sons of Yisra'el.

And you shall appoint Aharon and his sons, and they shall keep their priesthood. And the outsider who draws near shall die.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying:

And behold, I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Yisra'el instead of every firstborn that opens the womb from among the sons of Yisra'el, and the Levites shall be mine.

For mine is every firstborn on the day I struck every firstborn in the land of Mitsrayim, I consecrated every firstborn in Yisra'el to myself, from man to beast; they shall be mine. I am יהוה.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the wilderness of Sinai, saying:

Count the sons of Levi by their fathers' houses, by their clans; every male from a month old and upward you shall count.

And Mosheh counted them according to the word of יהוה, as he was commanded.

And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kehath and Merari.

And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their clans: Libni and Shimei.

And the sons of Kehath by their clans: Amram and Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.

And the sons of Merari by their clans: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of Levi by their fathers' houses.

Of Gershon: the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites. These are the clans of the Gershonites.

Their counted ones, by the number of every male from a month old and upward, their counted ones were seven thousand and five hundred.

The clans of the Gershonites shall camp behind the Tabernacle, westward.

And the chief of the fathers' house of the Gershonites was Eliasaph, son of Lael.

And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting was the Tabernacle, and its tent, its covering, and the screen for the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

And the hangings of the court, and the screen for the entrance of the court that is around the Tabernacle and around the altar, and their cords for all their service.

And of Kehath: the clan of the Amramites, and the clan of the Izharites, and the clan of the Hebronites, and the clan of the Uzzielites. These are the clans of the Kehathites.

By the number of every male from a month old and upward, eight thousand and six hundred, keepers of the charge of the sanctuary.

The clans of the sons of Kehath shall camp on the side of the Tabernacle, southward.

And the chief of the fathers' house for the clans of the Kehathites was Elizaphan, son of Uzziel.

And their charge was the Ark, and the Table, and the Lampstand, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary with which they ministered, and the screen, and all its service.

And the chief of the chiefs of the Levites was Eleazar, son of Aharon the priest; he was in charge of the keepers of the charge of the sanctuary.

Of Merari: the clan of the Mahlites, and the clan of the Mushites. These are the clans of Merari.

And their counted ones, by the number of every male from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

And the chief of the fathers' house for the clans of Merari was Zuriel, son of Abiha'il; they camped on the side of the Tabernacle, northward.

And the charge of the keepers of the sons of Merari was the frames of the Tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its bases, and all its furnishings, and all its service.

And the pillars of the court around, and their bases, and their pegs, and their cords.

And those camping before the Tabernacle, eastward, before the Tent of Meeting, were Mosheh and Aharon and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the sons of Yisra'el. And the outsider who drew near shall die.

All the counted ones of the Levites, whom Mosheh and Aharon counted according to the word of יהוה, by their clans, every male from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand.

And יהוה said to Mosheh, Count every firstborn male of the sons of Yisra'el from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

And you shall take the Levites for me, I am יהוה, instead of every firstborn among the sons of Yisra'el, and the livestock of the Levites instead of every firstborn among the livestock of the sons of Yisra'el.

And Mosheh counted all the firstborn males among the sons of Yisra'el, as יהוה commanded him.

And the total number of firstborn males, by name, from a month old and upward, for their counted ones, was twenty-two thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying:

Take the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Yisra'el, and their livestock instead of their livestock, and the Levites shall be mine. I am יהוה.

And for the redemption money of the three hundred and seventy who are over and above the Levites, from the firstborn of the sons of Yisra'el,

you shall take five shekels per head, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; twenty gerahs is the shekel.

And you shall give the silver to Aharon and to his sons, for the redemption money of those who are over and above them.

So Mosheh took the redemption silver from those who were over and above the redeemed Levites.

From the firstborn of the sons of Yisra'el he took the silver: one thousand three hundred and sixty-five, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.

And Mosheh gave the redemption silver to Aharon and to his sons, according to the word of יהוה, as יהוה commanded Mosheh.
