And it happened after the plague, and יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Elazar, the son of Aharon the priest, saying:

Take up the head of all the assembly of the sons of Yisra'el, from a son of twenty years and upward, by their fathers' houses, everyone going out to war in Yisra'el.

And Mosheh and Elazar the priest spoke to them in the plains of Mo'av, by the Yarden of Yericho, saying:

From a son of twenty years and upward, as יהוה commanded Mosheh, and the sons of Yisra'el who went out from the land of Mitsrayim.

Re'uven, the firstborn of Yisra'el; the sons of Re'uven: Ḥanokh, the family of the Ḥanokhite; Pallu, the family of the Palluite.

Ḥetsron, the family of the Ḥetsronite; Karmi, the family of the Karmiite.

These are the families of the Re'uvenite, and their counted ones were forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

And the sons of Pallu: Eli'av.

And the sons of Eli'av: Nemuel, and Datan, and Aviram; he is Datan and Aviram, the called ones of the assembly, who rebelled against Mosheh and against Aharon in the assembly of Qorah, when they rebelled against יהוה.

And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and Qorah, with the assembly, when the fire consumed two hundred and fifty men, and they became a sign.

But the sons of Qorah did not die.

The sons of Shim'on, by their families: Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelite; Yamin, the family of the Yaminit; Yakhin, the family of the Yakhinite.

Zeraḥ, the family of the Zeraḥite; Sha'ul, the family of the Sha'ulite.

These are the families of the Shim'onite; twenty-two thousand and two hundred.

The sons of Gad, by their families: Tsif'on, the family of the Tsif'onite; Ḥaggi, the family of the Ḥaggite; Shuni, the family of the Shunite.

Ozni, the family of the Ozniite; Eri, the family of the Eriite.

Arod, the family of the Arodite; Are'eli, the family of the Are'elite.

These are the families of the sons of Gad, by their counted ones: forty thousand and five hundred.

The sons of Yehudah: 'Er and Onan, and 'Er and Onan died in the land of Kena'an.

And the sons of Yehudah, by their families: Shelah, the family of the Shelani; Perets, the family of the Peretsi; Zerach, the family of the Zerachi.

And the sons of Perets: Ḥetsron, the family of the Ḥetsronite; Ḥamul, the family of the Ḥamulite.

These are the families of Yehudah, by their counted ones: seventy-six thousand and five hundred.

The sons of Yissasḳar, by their families: Tola, the family of the Tolai; Pu'ah, the family of the Puni.

Yashuv, the family of the Yashuvi; Shimron, the family of the Shimroni.

These are the families of Yissasḳar, by their counted ones: sixty-four thousand and three hundred.

The sons of Zevulun, by their families: Sered, the family of the Sardite; Elon, the family of the Elonite; Yaḥle'el, the family of the Yaḥle'elite.

The sons of Yosef, by their families: Menashsheh and Efrayim.

And Tsilfaḥad, son of Ḥefer, he had no sons, only daughters; and the names of the daughters of Tsilfaḥad were Maḥlah, and No'ah, Ḥoglah, Milkah, and Tirṣah.

These are the families of Menashsheh, and their counted ones: fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.

These are the sons of Efrayim, by their families: Shutelaḥ, the family of the Shutelaḥi; Bekher, the family of the Bakri; Tahan, the family of the Tahanite.

And these are the sons of Shutelaḥ: 'Eran, the family of the 'Erani.

These are the families of the sons of Efrayim, by their counted ones: thirty-two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Yosef, by their families.

The sons of Binyamin, by their families: Bela, the family of the Bela'i; Ashbel, the family of the Ashbeli; Aḥiram, the family of the Aḥiramite.

Shupham, the family of the Shuphamite; Ḥupham, the family of the Ḥuphamite.

And the sons of Bela were 'Ard and Na'aman; the family of the 'Ardi; to Na'aman, the family of the Na'amani.

These are the sons of Binyamin, by their families, and their counted ones: forty-five thousand and six hundred.

These are the sons of Dan, by their families: Shuḥam, the family of the Shuḥamite. These are the families of Dan, by their families.

All the families of the Shuḥamite, by their counted ones: sixty-four thousand and four hundred.

The sons of Asher, by their families: Yimnah, the family of the Yimnahite; Yishvi, the family of the Yishvite; Beri'ah, the family of the Beri'ite.

To the sons of Beri'ah: Ḥeber, the family of the Ḥeberi; Malki'el, the family of the Malki'elite.

And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.

These are the families of the sons of Asher, by their counted ones: fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

The sons of Naftali, by their families: Yaḥtse'el, the family of the Yaḥtse'elite; Guni, the family of the Guniite.

Yetser, the family of the Yitsri; Shillem, the family of the Shillemite.

These are the families of Naftali, by their families, and their counted ones: forty-five thousand and four hundred.

These are the counted ones of the sons of Yisra'el: six hundred thousand and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying:

To these the land shall be divided as an inheritance, by the number of names.

To the many you shall multiply its inheritance, and to the few you shall diminish its inheritance; to each according to his counted ones shall be given his inheritance.

Only by lot shall the land be divided, according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

According to the lot shall its inheritance be divided between the many and the few.

And these are the counted ones of the Levi, by their families: Gershon, the family of the Gershuni; Qehat, the family of the Qehati; Merari, the family of the Merari.

These are the families of Levi: the family of the Livni, the family of the Ḥevroni, the family of the Maḥli, the family of the Mushi, the family of the Qorḥi. And Qehat fathered 'Amram.

And the name of the wife of 'Amram was Yoḵebed, daughter of Levi, who bore her to Levi in Mitsrayim; and she bore to 'Amram Aharon and Mosheh and Miryam their sister.

And to Aharon were born Nadav and Avihu, El'azar and Itamar.

And Nadav and Avihu died when they offered strange fire before יהוה.

And their counted ones were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward, for they were not counted among the sons of Yisra'el, because no inheritance was given to them among the sons of Yisra'el.

These are the counted ones of Mosheh and El'azar the priest, who counted the sons of Yisra'el in the plains of Mo'av by the Yarden of Yericho.

And among these there was not a man from the counted ones of Mosheh and Aharon the priest, who counted the sons of Yisra'el in the wilderness of Sinai.

For יהוה had said to them, 'They shall surely die in the wilderness,' and there remained not of them a man, except Kaleb son of Yefunneh and Yehoshua son of Nun.
