The daughters of Tseleqhod, son of Hepher, son of Gil'ad, son of Makir, son of Menashsheh, of the families of Menashsheh son of Yosef, drew near. And these are the names of his daughters: Makhlah, No'ah, Ḥaglah, Milkah, and Tirzah.

And they stood before Mosheh, and before Ele'azar the priest, and before the chiefs and all the assembly, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, saying:

Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the assembly of those who gathered against יהוה in the assembly of Qorach, but he died for his sin, and he had no sons.

Why should the name of our father be removed from among his family, because he has no son? Give us a possession among the brothers of our father.

And Mosheh brought their case before יהוה.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying:

Tseleqhod's daughters are speaking rightly. You shall give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brothers, and you shall transfer their father's inheritance to them.

And to the sons of Yisra'el you shall speak, saying, If a man dies and he has no son, you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter.

And if he has no daughter, you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.

And if he has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his father's brothers.

And if his father has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his closest relative from his family, and he shall inherit it. And it shall be to the sons of Yisra'el as a statute of judgment, just as יהוה commanded Mosheh.

And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, Ascend this mountain of Avarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Yisra'el.

And you shall see it, and you too shall be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aharon was gathered.

Because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Tsin, in the strife of the assembly, to sanctify me in the water before their eyes. They are the waters of Merivah of Qadesh, wilderness of Tsin.

And Mosheh spoke to יהוה, saying:

May יהוה, the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the assembly.

Who will go out before them and who will come in before them, and who will lead them out and who will lead them in, so that the assembly of יהוה will not be like sheep that have no shepherd.

And יהוה said to Mosheh, Take for yourself Yehoshua, son of Nun, a man in whom is a spirit, and lay your hand upon him.

And you shall present him before Ele'azar the priest and before all the assembly, and you shall charge him before their eyes.

And you shall give some of your honor upon him, so that all the assembly of the sons of Yisra'el will listen.

And he shall stand before Ele'azar the priest, and he shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before יהוה. By his word they shall go out, and by his word they shall come in, he and all the sons of Yisra'el with him, and all the assembly.

And Mosheh did as יהוה commanded him, and he took Yehoshua, and he presented him before Ele'azar the priest and before all the assembly.

And he laid his hands upon him and charged him, as יהוה had spoken by the hand of Mosheh.
