And Bilaam said to Balak, 'Build for me here seven altars, and prepare for me here seven bulls and seven rams.'

And Balak did as Bilaam spoke, and Balak sacrificed a bull and a ram on the altar.

And Bilaam said to Balak, 'Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps יהוה will meet me, and a word, what he shows me, I will tell you.' And he went to a high place.

And Elohim met Bilaam, and he said to him, 'The seven altars I have prepared, and I sacrificed a bull and a ram on the altar.'

And יהוה put a word in Bilaam's mouth, and said, 'Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.'

And he returned to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, he and all the princes of Mo'av.

And he lifted up his oracle and said, 'From Aram, Balak king of Mo'av has brought me; from the mountains of the East. Come, curse for me Ya'aqov, and come, pronounce judgment on Yisra'el.'

How shall I curse? Elohim has not cursed, and how shall I pronounce judgment? יהוה has not pronounced judgment.

For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him. Behold, a people dwelling alone, and among the nations it will not be counted.

Who has counted the dust of Ya'aqov, and the number of the divisions of Yisra'el? Let my soul die the death of the upright, and let my end be like his.'

And Balak said to Bilaam, 'What have you done to me? To curse my enemies I took you, and behold, you have blessed them, blessing.'

And he answered and said, 'Will I not guard myself to speak the very word that יהוה puts in my mouth?'

And Balak said to him, 'Come, please, with me to another place from which you will see them; only the extremity of them you will see, and all of them you will not see, and curse them for me from there.'

And he took him to the field of the watchers, to the top of Pisgah, and he built seven altars, and sacrificed a bull and a ram on the altar.

And he said to Balak, 'Stand here by your burnt offering, and I will meet יהוה here.'

And יהוה met Bilaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, 'Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.'

And he came to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the princes of Mo'av were with him. And Balak said to him, 'What has יהוה spoken?'

And he lifted up his oracle and said, 'Rise, Balak, and hear; give ear to me, son of Tsippor.'

Elohim is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do? Or has he spoken, and will he not confirm it?

Behold, a blessing I have received; and he has blessed, and I will not reverse it.

He has not looked on iniquity in Ya'aqov, nor has he seen trouble in Yisra'el. יהוה Elohim is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

Elohim brings them out of Mitsrayim; like the horns of a wild ox, they are for him.

For there is no sorcery in Ya'aqov, nor is there divination in Yisra'el. At this time it shall be said of Ya'aqov and of Yisra'el, 'What has Elohim done?'

Behold, a people will rise like a lioness, and like a lion will lift itself up. It will not lie down until it eats prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.

And Balak said to Bilaam, 'You shall not curse them at all, nor shall you bless them at all.'

And Bilaam answered and said to Balak, 'Did I not tell you beforehand, saying, 'All that יהוה speaks, that I shall do'?'

And Balak said to Bilaam, 'Come, please, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will be pleasing in the sight of Elohim, and he will curse them for me from there.'

And Balak took Bilaam to the head of Pe'or, which overlooks the desert.

And Bilaam said to Balak, 'Build for me here seven altars, and prepare for me here seven bulls and seven rams.'

And Balak did as Bilaam said, and sacrificed a bull and a ram on the altar.
