And the people were like complainers, evil in the ears of יהוה, and יהוה heard, and his anger burned, and the fire of יהוה burned among them, and it consumed the outskirts of the camp.

And the people cried out to Mosheh, and Mosheh prayed to יהוה, and the fire died down.

And he called the name of that place Tab'erah, because the fire of יהוה burned among them.

And the mixed multitude which was in their midst craved a craving, and the sons of Yisra'el also turned and wept, and they said, 'Who will feed us meat?'

We remember the fish which we ate in Mitsrayim for free, the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic.

And now our soul is dried up; there is nothing except for the manna before our eyes.

And the manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance was like the appearance of bdellium.

The people would gather it and grind it in mills or crush it in a mortar, and cook it in pots, and make it into cakes, and its taste was like the taste of oil-sweetened cakes.

And when the dew came down on the camp at night, the manna would come down on it.

And Mosheh heard the people weeping by their families, each man at the entrance of his tent, and the anger of יהוה burned greatly, and it was evil in the eyes of Mosheh.

And Mosheh said to יהוה, 'Why have you done evil to your servant, and why have I not found favor in your eyes, to place the burden of all this people on me?'

Did I conceive all this people? Or did I give birth to them, that you say to me, 'Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a suckling on the ground, which you swore to their fathers?'

From where do I have meat to give to all this people? Because they weep to me, saying, 'Give us meat, and let us eat.'

I alone cannot carry all this people, because it is too heavy for me.

And if you are doing this to me, kill me, please, kill me, if I have found favor in your eyes, and let me not see my misery.

And יהוה said to Mosheh, 'Gather for me seventy men from the elders of Yisra'el, whom you know to be the elders of the people and their officers, and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, and they shall stand there with you.'

And I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take of the spirit that is upon you and place it on them, and they shall bear with you the burden of the people, and you shall not bear it alone.

And say to the people, 'Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, because you wept in the ears of יהוה, saying, 'Who will feed us meat? Because it was good for us in Mitsrayim.'' And יהוה will give you meat, and you shall eat.

You shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days.

For a month of days, until it comes out of your nostrils, and it becomes loathsome to you, because you have rejected יהוה who is in your midst, and you have wept before him, saying, 'Why did we come out of Mitsrayim?'

And Mosheh said, 'The people among whom I am are six hundred thousand foot soldiers, and you said, 'Meat I will give them, and they shall eat for a month of days.''

If sheep and cattle are slaughtered for them, will it be enough for them? Or if all the fish of the sea are gathered for them, will it be enough for them?

And יהוה said to Mosheh, 'Is the hand of יהוה shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not.'

And Mosheh went out and spoke to the people the words of יהוה, and he gathered seventy men from the elders of the people, and he stationed them around the Tent.

And יהוה came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took of the spirit that was upon him and gave it to the seventy men, the elders. And it happened, when the spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, but they did not do so again.

And two men remained in the camp; the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the second was Meidad. And the spirit rested upon them, and they were among those who were written down, but they did not go out to the Tent, and they prophesied in the camp.

And a young man ran and told Mosheh, and said, 'Eldad and Meidad are prophesying in the camp.'

And Yehoshua the son of Nun, the attendant of Mosheh from his youth, answered and said, 'My Adonai Mosheh, forbid them!'

And Mosheh said to him, 'Are you jealous for me? Who would give that all the people of יהוה were prophets, because יהוה would give his spirit upon them?'

And Mosheh returned to the camp, he and the elders of Yisra'el.

And a wind went out from יהוה, and it drove quails from the sea, and it let them fall on the camp, about a day's journey this way and a day's journey that way, all around the camp, and about two cubits deep on the surface of the ground.

And the people rose up all that day and all night and all the next day, and they gathered the quails; he who gathered the least gathered ten homers. And they spread them out for themselves in layers all around the camp.

And the meat was still between their teeth, before it was cut off, and the anger of יהוה burned against the people, and יהוה struck the people with a very great plague.

And he called the name of that place Kibroth-hatta'avah, because there they buried the people who craved.

From Kibroth-hatta'avah the people journeyed to Ḥatserot, and they stayed in Ḥatserot.
