Listen now, what יהוה speaks: Rise, contend with the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.

Hear, mountains, the contention of יהוה, and you, foundations of the earth, for יהוה has a contention with his people, and with Yisra'el he will argue.

My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Answer me.

For I brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim, and from the house of slaves I redeemed you, and I sent before you Mosheh, Aharon, and Miryam.

My people, remember now what Balak, king of Mo'av, planned, and what Bil'am son of Be'or answered him, from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you may know the righteous deeds of יהוה.

With what shall I present myself before יהוה? Shall I bow myself to the Elohim of the Most High? Shall I present myself to him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?

Would יהוה be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

He has told you, O man, what is good, and what does יהוה require of you? Only to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your Elohim.

The voice of יהוה cries out to the city, and wisdom sees your name. Hear, O tribe, and who has appointed it?

Is there yet in the house of the wicked treasures of wickedness, and a scant measure, an abominable thing?

Can I be pure with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?

For her rich men are filled with violence, and her inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceit in their mouth.

And also, I have begun to strike you, to lay you waste because of your sins.

You will eat, but not be satisfied, and your emptiness will be within you. You will carry away, but not deliver, and what you deliver, to the sword I will give.

You will sow, but not reap. You will tread the olive, but not anoint with oil, and tread grapes, but not drink wine.

For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Aḥav, and you walk in their counsels, so that I will give you for a desolation, and her inhabitants for a hissing, and you will bear the reproach of my people.
