And יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, saying to them,

Speak to the sons of Yisra'el, saying, This is the living thing which you may eat from all the beasts which are on the earth.

Every one that splits a hoof and has a split hoof, that chews cud among the beasts, that you may eat.

Only, this you shall not eat from those that chew cud and from those that split the hoof: the camel, because it chews cud but does not split the hoof, it is unclean to you.

And the shaphan, because it chews cud but does not split the hoof, it is unclean to you.

And the arnevet, because it chews cud but does not split the hoof, it is unclean to you.

And the ḥazir, because it splits the hoof and has a split hoof, but does not chew cud, it is unclean to you.

From their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.

This you may eat from all that is in the waters: every one that has a fin and scales in the waters, in the seas and in the rivers, them you may eat.

And all that does not have a fin and scales in the seas and in the rivers, from all the swarming things of the waters and from all the living souls which are in the waters, they are an abomination to you.

And they shall be an abomination to you; from their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall detest.

Every one that does not have a fin and scales in the waters, it is an abomination to you.

And these you shall detest from the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the nesher, and the peres, and the 'ozniyah,

And the da'ah, and the 'ayyah, according to its kind,

Every 'orev, according to its kind,

And the bat ha-ya'anah, and the taḥmas, and the shaḥaf, and the nets, according to its kind,

And the kos, and the shalaḵ, and the yanšuf,

And the tinšemet, and the qaa't, and the raḥam,

And the ḥasidah, the 'anafah, according to its kind, and the duḵifat, and the 'atalef.

Every swarming thing of the birds that walks on four legs is an abomination to you.

Only, this you may eat from all swarming things of the birds that walk on four legs, which have legs above their feet, to leap on the earth.

These from them you may eat: the 'arbeh, according to its kind, and the sole'am, according to its kind, and the ḥargol, according to its kind, and the ḥagav, according to its kind.

And every swarming thing of the birds that has four legs is an abomination to you.

And by these you shall become unclean; every one that touches their carcasses shall be unclean until evening.

And every one that carries from their carcasses shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until evening.

To all the beasts which split the hoof but do not have a split hoof, and do not chew cud, they are unclean to you; every one that touches them shall be unclean.

And every one that walks on its paws, among all the living things that walk on four legs, they are unclean to you; every one that touches their carcasses shall be unclean until evening.

And he that carries their carcasses shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until evening; they are unclean to you.

And this is to you the unclean among the swarming things that swarm on the earth: the ḥoled, and the 'akhbar, and the ṣav, according to its kind,

And the 'anaqah, and the ko'aḥ, and the leta'ah, and the ḥomet, and the tinšemet.

These are the unclean to you among all the swarming things; every one that touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.

And whatever falls on it when it is dead, from any wooden vessel, or clothing, or skin, or sack, any vessel on which work is done, it shall be brought into water, and it shall be unclean until evening, and then clean.

And any earthenware vessel into which one of them falls, everything in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.

From all the food that is eaten, which water comes upon it, it shall be unclean; and any drink that is drunk in any vessel shall be unclean.

And anything from their carcasses falls on it, it shall be unclean; an oven and a stove shall be broken; they are unclean, and they shall be unclean to you.

Only a spring and a cistern, a pool of water, shall be clean; but that which touches their carcasses shall be unclean.

And if any of their carcasses falls on any seed to be sown, it is clean.

And if water is put on seed, and some of their carcasses falls on it, it is unclean to you.

And if any of the beasts which are for you to eat dies, he that touches its carcass shall be unclean until evening.

And he that eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until evening; and he that carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and shall be unclean until evening.

And every swarming thing that swarms on the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

Every one that walks on its belly, and every one that walks on four legs, to all the swarming things that swarm on the earth, you shall not eat them, for they are an abomination.

Do not make yourselves detestable by any swarming thing that swarms, and do not make yourselves unclean by them, so that you become unclean by them.

For I am יהוה your Elohim; and you shall consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy; and you shall not make yourselves unclean by any swarming thing that crawls on the earth.

For I am יהוה who brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim to be your Elohim; and you shall be holy, because I am holy.

This is the law of the beast, and of the bird, and of every living soul that moves in the water, and of every soul that swarms on the earth,

To distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.
