And Aharon's sons, Nadav and Avihu, each took his fire pan, and they put fire in them, and put incense on them, and brought before יהוה strange fire, which He had not commanded them.

And fire came out from before יהוה and consumed them, and they died before יהוה.

And Mosheh said to Aharon, 'This is what יהוה spoke, saying: Through those near Me I will be sanctified, and before the face of all the people I will be honored.' And Aharon was silent.

And Mosheh called Mishael and Eltsafan, sons of Uziel, Aharon's uncle, and said to them, 'Come near, carry your brothers from before the holy place, to outside the camp.'

And they came near and carried them in their tunics to outside the camp, as Mosheh had spoken.

And Mosheh said to Aharon, and to Elazar and to Iytamar, his sons, 'Your heads you shall not uncover, and your garments you shall not tear, and you shall not die. And against all the assembly, wrath will be kindled, and your brothers, all the house of Yisra'el, will mourn the burning which יהוה has kindled.'

And from the entrance of the tent of meeting you shall not go out, lest you die, because the anointing oil of יהוה is upon you.' And they did according to Mosheh's word.

And יהוה spoke to Aharon, saying:

'Wine and strong drink you shall not drink, you and your sons with you, when you come into the tent of meeting, and you shall not die; it is a statute forever for your generations.

'And to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean.

'And to teach the sons of Yisra'el all the statutes which יהוה has spoken to them by the hand of Mosheh.'

And Mosheh spoke to Aharon, and to Elazar, and to Iytamar, his remaining sons, 'Take the offering that remains of the fire offerings of יהוה, and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy.

'And you shall eat it in a holy place, for it is your due and your sons' due from the fire offerings of יהוה; for so I have been commanded.'

'And the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering you shall eat in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you, for your due and your sons' due have been given from the peace offerings of the sons of Yisra'el.

'The thigh of the heave offering and the breast of the wave offering, with the fire offerings of fat, they shall bring to wave a wave offering before יהוה, and it shall be for you and for your sons with you as a due forever, as יהוה has commanded.'

And the goat of the sin offering Mosheh searched for, and behold, it was burned. And he was angry with Elazar and with Iytamar, Aharon's remaining sons, saying:

'Why did you not eat the sin offering in the holy place? For it is most holy, and it was given to you to bear the iniquity of the assembly, to make atonement for them before יהוה.

'Behold, its blood was not brought inside the holy place; you should have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.'

And Aharon spoke to Mosheh, 'Behold, today they have brought their sin offering and their burnt offering before יהוה, and such things have happened to me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been good in the eyes of יהוה?'

And Mosheh heard, and it was good in his eyes.
