And it came to pass in the days of wheat harvest, and Shimshon visited his wife with a kid of goats, and he said, 'I will go in to my wife in the inner chamber,' and her father did not permit him to go in.

And her father said, 'I said, surely you hate her, and I gave her to your companion. Is not her younger sister better than her? Let her be to you instead.'

And Shimshon said to them, 'I am innocent this time from the Pelishtim, for I am doing evil against them.'

And Shimshon went and caught three hundred foxes, and he took torches, and he turned tail to tail, and he put one torch between two tails in the middle.

And he set fire to the torches, and he sent them into the Pelishtim's standing grain, and he burned from the stacks to the standing grain, and to the olive grove.

And the Pelishtim said, 'Who did this?' And they said, 'Shimshon, the Timnite's son-in-law, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion.' And the Pelishtim went up and burned her and her father with fire.

And Shimshon said to them, 'If you do this, then I will take vengeance on you, and afterward I will cease.'

And he struck them thigh upon thigh, a great slaughter, and he went down and sat in the cleft of the rock of Etam.

And the Pelishtim went up and encamped in Yehudah, and they spread out in Lechi.

And the men of Yehudah said, 'Why have you come up against us?' And they said, 'To bind Shimshon, we have come up against you, to do to him as he did to us.'

And three thousand men of Yehudah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and they said to Shimshon, 'Do you not know that the Pelishtim rule over us? And what is this you have done to us?' And he said to them, 'As they did to me, so I did to them.'

And they said to him, 'To bind you, we have come down, to give you into the hand of the Pelishtim.' And Shimshon said to them, 'Swear to me, lest you yourselves strike me.'

And they said to him, saying, 'No, but we will surely bind you and give you into their hand, and we will not kill you.' And they bound him with two new ropes, and they brought him up from the rock.

He came to Lechi, and the Pelishtim shouted against him, and the spirit of יהוה rushed upon him, and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax fibers burned by fire, and his bonds melted from his hands.

And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and he stretched out his hand and took it, and he struck a thousand men with it.

And Shimshon said, 'With the jawbone of a donkey, a heap, a heap! With the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.'

And it came to pass, when he finished speaking, that he threw the jawbone from his hand, and he called that place Ramath Lechi.

And he was very thirsty, and he called to יהוה and said, 'You have given into the hand of your servant this great deliverance, and now I will die of thirst, and I will fall into the hand of the uncircumcised.'

And Elohim split the hollow place that is in Lechi, and water came out from it, and he drank, and his spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore he called its name En HaQore, which is in Lechi, to this day.

And he judged Yisra'el in the days of the Pelishtim twenty years.
