Shimshon went down to Timnah, and he saw a woman in Timnah from the daughters of the Pelishtim.

And he went up and told his father and his mother, and said, 'A woman I saw in Timnah from the daughters of the Pelishtim; and now, take her for me as a wife.'

And his father and his mother said to him, 'Is there not a woman among your brothers' daughters and among all my people, that you go to take a woman from the uncircumcised Pelishtim?' And Shimshon said to his father, 'Her, take for me, for she is right in my eyes.'

And his father and his mother did not know that it was from יהוה, for he was seeking an occasion against the Pelishtim. And at that time, the Pelishtim were ruling over Yisra'el.

And Shimshon went down, and his father and his mother, to Timnah. And they came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a lion's cub roaring against him.

And the Spirit of יהוה rushed upon him, and he tore it apart like one tears apart a kid, and nothing was in his hand. And he did not tell his father and his mother what he had done.

And he went down and spoke to the woman, and she was right in Shimshon's eyes.

And he returned after days to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion. And behold, a swarm of bees in the carcass of the lion, and honey.

And he scooped it into his hands, and went on his way, eating. And he went to his father and to his mother, and gave to them, and they ate. And he did not tell them that from the carcass of the lion he had scooped the honey.

And his father went down to the woman. And Shimshon made a feast there, for so the young men did.

And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they took thirty companions, and they were with him.

And Shimshon said to them, 'I will pose a riddle to you. If you indeed tell me its answer during the seven days of the feast, and you find it, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothes.'

And if you cannot tell me its answer, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothes.' And they said to him, 'Pose your riddle, and let us hear it.'

And he said to them, 'From the eater came food, and from the strong came sweetness.' And they could not tell the riddle in three days.

And it came to pass on the seventh day, and they said to Shimshon's wife, 'Entice your husband, and he will tell us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire. Did you not call us to take us? Is it not so?'

And Shimshon's wife wept upon him and said, 'You only hate me, and you do not love me. You posed a riddle to the sons of my people, and to me you have not told it.' And he said to her, 'Behold, to my father and to my mother I have not told it, and to you I will tell it.'

And she wept upon him the seven days that they had the feast. And it came to pass on the seventh day, and he told her, because she had pressed him. And she told the riddle to the sons of her people.

And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun set, 'What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?' And he said to them, 'If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have found my riddle.'

And the Spirit of יהוה rushed upon him, and he went down to Ashqelon, and struck thirty men from them, and took their spoils, and gave the changes of clothes to those who told the riddle. And his anger burned, and he went up to his father's house.

And Shimshon's wife became the wife of his companion, to whom he had given her as a wife.
