And the sons of Yisra'el again did evil in the eyes of יהוה, and יהוה gave them into the hand of the Pelishtim for forty years.

And there was a man from Tzore'ah, from the family of the Danites, and his name was Manoah, and his wife was barren and did not bear a child.

And the messenger of יהוה appeared to the woman and said to her, 'Look now, you are barren and have not borne a child, but you will conceive and bear a son.'

'And now, be careful, please, and do not drink wine or strong drink, and do not eat anything unclean.'

'For behold, you will conceive and bear a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the boy will be a Nazirite to Elohim from the womb, and he will begin to save Yisra'el from the hand of the Pelishtim.'

'And the woman came and said to her husband, saying, 'A man of Elohim came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of the messenger of Elohim, very awesome, and I did not ask him where he was from, and he did not tell me his name.'

'And he said to me, 'Behold, you will conceive and bear a son, and now do not drink wine or strong drink, and do not eat any impurity, for the boy will be a Nazirite to Elohim from the womb until the day of his death.''

'And Manoah pleaded to יהוה and said, 'My Adonai, please let the man of Elohim whom you sent come to us again and teach us what we should do for the boy who will be born.''

'And Elohim heard the voice of Manoah, and the messenger of Elohim came again to the woman, and she was sitting in the field, and Manoah her husband was not with her.'

'And the woman hurried and ran and told her husband and said to him, 'Behold, the man who came to me the other day has appeared to me again.''

'And Manoah got up and went after his wife, and came to the man and said to him, 'Are you the man who spoke to the woman?' And he said, 'I am.''

'And Manoah said, 'Now let your word come to pass. What will be the rule for the boy and his deeds?'

'And the messenger of יהוה said to Manoah, 'From all that I said to the woman, she must be careful.'

'From all that comes from the grapevine of the wine, she shall not eat, and wine and strong drink she shall not drink, and any impurity she shall not eat. All that I commanded her, she shall keep.''

'And Manoah said to the messenger of יהוה, 'Please let us detain you, and let us prepare a young goat for you.''

'And the messenger of יהוה said to Manoah, 'If you detain me, I will not eat your bread. And if you prepare a burnt offering, to יהוה you shall offer it.' For Manoah did not know that he was the messenger of יהוה.'

'And Manoah said to the messenger of יהוה, 'What is your name, so that when your words come to pass, we may honor you?'

'And the messenger of יהוה said to him, 'Why do you ask my name, since it is wonderful?'

'And Manoah took the young goat and the grain offering and offered it on the rock to יהוה, and He did wonders, and Manoah and his wife were watching.'

'And it happened as the flame went up from the altar to the sky, that the messenger of יהוה went up in the flame of the altar, and Manoah and his wife were watching, and they fell on their faces to the ground.'

'And the messenger of יהוה did not appear again to Manoah and his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the messenger of יהוה.'

'And Manoah said to his wife, 'We will surely die, because we have seen Elohim.''

'But his wife said to him, 'If יהוה desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, and He would not have shown us all these things, and at this time He would not have told us such a thing.''

'And the woman bore a son and called his name Shimshon, and the boy grew, and יהוה blessed him.'

'And the Spirit of יהוה began to stir him in the camps of Dan, between Tzore'ah and Eshta'ol.'
