And a man of Efrayim cried out and went north, and they said to Yiftah, 'Why did you cross over to fight the sons of Ammon, and you did not call us to go with you? Your house we will burn upon you with fire.'

'And I saw that you were not saving, and I put my life in my hand, and I crossed over to the sons of Ammon, and יהוה gave them into my hand. And why have you come up to me today to fight me?'

And Yiftah gathered all the men of Gil'ad, and he fought against Efrayim, and the men of Gil'ad struck Efrayim, because the fugitives of Efrayim said, 'You fugitives of Gil'ad are in the midst of Efrayim, in the midst of Menasheh.'

And Gil'ad captured the crossings of the Yarden for Efrayim. And it happened, when the fugitives of Efrayim said, 'Let me cross over,' and the men of Gil'ad said to him, 'Are you an Efrayimite?' And he said, 'No.'

And Yiftah judged Yisra'el six years. And Yiftah the Gil'adite died and was buried in the cities of Gil'ad.
