And it happened when all the kings of the Amorites who were across the Yarden, to the west, and all the kings of the Kena'ani who were by the sea, heard what יהוה had dried up the waters of the Yarden from before the sons of Yisra'el until they had passed over, their hearts melted and there was no longer spirit in them because of the sons of Yisra'el.

At that time, יהוה said to Yehoshua, 'Make for yourself knives of flint, and circumcise again the sons of Yisra'el.'

So Yehoshua made for himself knives of flint, and circumcised the sons of Yisra'el at the Hill of the Foreskins.

And this is the reason Yehoshua circumcised: all the people who came out of Mitsrayim, the males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness on the way, when they came out of Mitsrayim.

For all the people who came out were circumcised, and all the people born in the wilderness on the way, when they came out of Mitsrayim, were not circumcised.

For the sons of Yisra'el had walked forty years in the wilderness until all the people, the men of war who came out of Mitsrayim, who had not obeyed the voice of יהוה, to whom יהוה had sworn that he would not show them the land that יהוה had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey, were finished.

And their sons, whom he raised up in their place, Yehoshua circumcised, because they were uncircumcised, for they had not circumcised them on the way.

And it happened when all the people had finished being circumcised, that they sat in their places in the camp until they recovered.

And יהוה said to Yehoshua, 'Today I have rolled away the shame of Mitsrayim from upon you.' And he called the name of that place Gilgal, until this day.

And the sons of Yisra'el camped in Gilgal, and they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, in the plains of Yericho.

And they ate from the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and roasted grain, on this very day.

And the manna ceased on the day after they ate from the produce of the land, and there was no longer manna for the sons of Yisra'el, and they ate from the harvest of the land of Kena'an in that year.

And it happened when Yehoshua was by Yericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him, and his sword was drawn in his hand. And Yehoshua went to him and said to him, 'Are you for us or for our enemies?'

And he said, 'No, but I am the commander of the army of יהוה. Now I have come.' And Yehoshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, 'What does my Adonai say to his servant?'

And the commander of the army of יהוה said to Yehoshua, 'Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy.' And Yehoshua did so.
