And it happened when all the nation finished crossing the Yarden, and יהוה spoke to Yehoshua saying:

Take for yourselves from the people twelve men, one man, one man from a tribe.

And command them saying, 'Take for yourselves from here, from the midst of the Yarden, from the standing place of the feet of the priests, prepare twelve stones, and carry them with you, and place them in the lodging place where you will lodge this night.'

And Yehoshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared from the sons of Yisra'el, one man, one man from a tribe.

And Yehoshua said to them, 'Cross before the Ark of יהוה your Elohim into the midst of the Yarden, and lift for yourselves, each man one stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Yisra'el.'

So that this may be a sign among you. When your sons ask tomorrow saying, 'What are these stones to you?'

And you shall say to them, 'Because the waters of the Yarden were cut off before the Ark of the Covenant of יהוה. When it crossed in the Yarden, the waters of the Yarden were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the sons of Yisra'el forever.'

And the sons of Yisra'el did as Yehoshua commanded. And they took twelve stones from the midst of the Yarden, as יהוה had spoken to Yehoshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Yisra'el. And they carried them with them to the lodging place and placed them there.

And Yehoshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Yarden, under the standing place of the feet of the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant. And they were there until this day.

And the priests carrying the Ark were standing in the midst of the Yarden until all the matter was finished, which יהוה had commanded Yehoshua to speak to the people, according to all which Mosheh had commanded Yehoshua. And the people hurried and crossed.

And it happened when all the people finished crossing, and the Ark of יהוה crossed, and the priests before the people.

And the sons of Re'uven and the sons of Gad and half the tribe of Menasheh crossed, armed, before the sons of Yisra'el, as Mosheh had spoken to them.

About forty thousand, the warriors, crossed before יהוה for war to the plains of Yericho.

On that day, יהוה made Yehoshua great in the eyes of all Yisra'el. And they feared him as they had feared Mosheh all the days of his life.

And יהוה spoke to Yehoshua saying:

Command the priests carrying the Ark of the Testimony, and let them ascend from the Yarden.

And Yehoshua commanded the priests saying, 'Ascend from the Yarden.'

And it happened as the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of יהוה ascended from the midst of the Yarden, the soles of the priests' feet were cut off from the dry ground, and the waters of the Yarden returned to their place, and they flowed as before over all its banks.

And the people ascended from the Yarden on the tenth of the first month, and they encamped in the Gilgal, at the eastern edge of Yericho.

And those twelve stones, which they took from the Yarden, Yehoshua set up in the Gilgal.

And he said to the sons of Yisra'el saying, 'When your sons ask tomorrow their fathers saying, 'What are these stones?'

And you shall make known to your sons saying, 'On dry ground Yisra'el crossed this Yarden.'

Which יהוה your Elohim dried the waters of the Yarden from before you until you crossed, as יהוה your Elohim did to the Yam Suf, which he dried from before us until we crossed.'

So that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of יהוה, that it is strong. So that you may fear יהוה your Elohim all the days.'
