And the word of יהוה came to Yonah a second time, saying:

Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and cry out to it the cry which I am speaking to you.

And Yonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of יהוה. Now Nineveh was a great city to Elohim, a three-day walk.

And Yonah began to enter the city, a day's walk, and he cried out and said, 'Yet forty days, and Nineveh will be overturned.'

And the men of Nineveh believed in Elohim, and they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from their greatest to their least.

And the matter reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and removed his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

And he sent out and said in Nineveh, by decree of the king and his nobles, saying: 'Let neither man nor beast, cattle nor flock, taste anything; let them not eat, and let them not drink water.'

'And let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them cry out to Elohim with strength, and let each turn from his evil way and from the violence in their hands.'

'Who knows? Elohim may turn and relent, and turn back from his fierce anger, and we will not perish.'

And Elohim saw their deeds, that they turned from their evil way, and Elohim relented concerning the disaster which he had spoken to do to them, and he did not do it.
