Sound a shofar in Tsiyon, and shout on my holy mountain; let all inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of יהוה is coming, for it is near.

A day of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick cloud, like dawn spread upon the mountains; a great and mighty people, like it there has not been from of old, and after it, there will not be again, until years of generation and generation.

Before it, fire devours, and after it, flame burns. Like a garden of Eden the land is before it, and after it, a desert of desolation, and also, a remnant was not for it.

Like the appearance of horses is its appearance, and like cavalry, so they run.

Like the sound of chariots on the tops of the mountains they leap, like the sound of a blazing fire devouring stubble, like a mighty people arrayed for war.

Before them peoples writhe; all faces gather paleness.

Like warriors they run, like men of war they ascend the wall, and each in his ways goes, and they do not confuse their paths.

And each his brother does not push; a man in his path goes, and through the breach they fall, they do not break through.

In the city they rush, on the wall they run, in the houses they ascend, through the windows they enter like a thief.

Before it the earth shakes, the heavens tremble, sun and moon darken, and stars gather their brightness.

And יהוה gives his voice before his army, for very great is his camp, for mighty is the doer of his word, for great is the day of יהוה and very awesome, and who can endure it?

And also now, declares יהוה, return to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.

And tear your hearts and not your garments, and return to יהוה your Elohim, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abundant in kindness, and relents concerning disaster.

Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave behind a blessing, a grain offering and a drink offering for יהוה your Elohim.

Sound a shofar in Tsiyon, consecrate a fast, call a solemn assembly.

Gather the people, consecrate the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and those nursing at the breast; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her canopy.

Between the porch and the altar let the priests, the servants of יהוה, weep and say, 'Spare your people, יהוה, and do not give your inheritance to reproach, for nations to rule over them; why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their Elohim?'

And יהוה was zealous for his land and had compassion on his people.

And יהוה answered and said to his people, 'Behold, I am sending to you grain and new wine and fresh oil, and you will be satisfied with them, and I will not again give you reproach among the nations.

And the northern one I will drive far from you, and I will push him to a land of drought and desolation, his face to the eastern sea, and his rear to the western sea, and his stench will rise, and his foul smell will rise, because he has done greatly.

Do not fear, land; rejoice and be glad, for יהוה has done greatly.

Do not fear, wild animals of the field, for the pastures of the desert are lush, for the tree bears its fruit, the fig tree and the vine give their strength.

And sons of Tsiyon, rejoice and be glad in יהוה your Elohim, for he has given you the teacher for righteousness, and he has brought down for you the early rain and the late rain, the first.

And the threshing floors will be full of grain, and the wine presses will overflow with new wine and fresh oil.

And I will repay to you the years that the locust, the cankerworm, the caterpillar, and the gnawing locust ate, my great army which I sent against you.

And you will eat, eating and being satisfied, and you will praise the name of יהוה your Elohim, who has done wonderfully with you, and my people will not be ashamed forever.

And you will know that I am in the midst of Yisra'el, and I am יהוה your Elohim, and there is no other, and my people will not be ashamed forever.
