And Iyov answered and said,

Truly I know that so, and what will a person be justified with Elohim?

If he desires to contend with Him, he will not answer me, one of a thousand.

Wise of heart and mighty of strength, who has hardened himself against Him and been whole?

He removes mountains and they do not know, He overthrows them in His anger.

He shakes the earth from its place, and its pillars tremble.

He says to the sun, and it does not rise, and seals up the stars.

He alone stretches out the heavens and walks on the heights of the sea.

He makes the Bear, the Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

He does great things beyond searching, and wonders beyond counting.

Behold, He passes over me, and I do not see; and He passes by, and I do not understand Him.

Behold, He snatches away, who will turn Him back? Who will say to Him, 'What are You doing?'

Elohim will not turn back His anger; the helpers of Rahab bow beneath Him.

How much less can I answer Him? I will choose my words with Him.

If I were righteous, I would not answer; to my judge I would plead.

If I called and He answered me, I would not believe that He listens to my voice.

For He crushes me with a tempest and multiplies my wounds without cause.

He does not allow me to regain my breath, for He satisfies me with bitterness.

If it is concerning strength, behold, He is mighty; and if it is concerning justice, who will summon me?

If I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me; if I am blameless, He will declare me perverse.

I am blameless; I do not know myself; I despise my life.

It is all one; therefore I said, 'He destroys the blameless and the wicked.'

If the whip kills suddenly, He laughs at the trial of the innocent.

The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges. If not, then who is He?

And my days are swifter than a runner; they have fled, they have not seen good.

They have passed by with ships of reed, like an eagle swooping on food.

If I say, 'I will forget my complaint, I will abandon my countenance and be cheerful,'

I fear all my pains; I know that You will not acquit me.

I will be wicked; why then do I labor in vain?

If I wash myself with snow and cleanse my hands with lye,

Then You will plunge me into the pit, and my clothes will abhor me.

For He is not a man like me, that I should answer Him, that we should come together in judgment.

There is no arbiter between us who may lay his hand on us both.

Let Him remove His rod from me, and let His terror not frighten me.

Then I will speak and not fear Him, for I am not like that with Him.
