Who will give me in the wilderness a lodging place of travelers, and I will leave my people and go from them? Because all of them are adulterers, an assembly of traitors.

And they sharpened their tongue, their bow, a bow of falsehood, and not for truth. They grew strong in the land; because from evil to evil they went out, and me they did not know, says יהוה.

Each from his neighbor, beware, and concerning every brother, do not trust. Because every brother is deceitful, Ya'aqov, and every neighbor walks as a slanderer.

And each with his neighbor will deceive, and truth they will not speak. They have trained their tongue to speak falsehood; perversity they have become weary.

Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; in deceit they refused to know me, says יהוה.

Therefore, thus says יהוה of hosts, 'Behold, I will refine them and test them, because how will I do concerning the daughter of my people?'

Their tongue is a sharp arrow; deceit they speak. In his mouth, peace with his neighbor he speaks, but in his inward parts he sets a trap.

Should I not punish them for these things? says יהוה. Or should my soul not take vengeance on a nation like this?

Upon the mountains I will raise weeping and wailing, and upon the pastures of the desert a lament, because they are scorched from no man passing through, and they have not heard the voice of livestock. From the birds of the sky and even to the beasts, they have fled; they have gone.

And I will give Yerushalayim to ruins, a dwelling place for jackals, and the cities of Yehudah I will give as desolation, without an inhabitant.

Who is the man, wise, and he will understand this? And to whom has the mouth of יהוה spoken, that he may declare it? Why has the land perished, scorched like the desert, without a passerby?

And יהוה said, 'Because they have forsaken my law, which I gave before them, and they have not listened to my voice, nor walked in it.'

And they went after the stubbornness of their heart, and after the Ba'alim, which their fathers taught them.

Therefore, thus says יהוה of hosts, Elohim of Yisra'el, 'Behold, I will feed this people wormwood, and I will give them poisoned water to drink.'

And I will scatter them among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers knew, and I will send the sword after them until I consume them.

Thus says יהוה of hosts, 'Consider and call for the mourning women, and send for the skillful ones, and let them come.'

And let them hasten and raise over us a lament, and let our eyes flow with tears, and our eyelids stream with water.

Because a voice of lament is heard from Tsiyon, 'How we are plundered! We are greatly ashamed, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast out our dwellings.'

Because women heard the word of יהוה, and let your ear take the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters lamentation, and each woman her neighbor a dirge.

Because death has come up through our windows, it has entered our palaces, to cut off the young child from outside, the young men from the streets.

Speak thus, says יהוה, 'And the corpses of men will fall like dung upon the face of the field, and like the gleaning after the reaper, and there is no one gathering.'

Thus says יהוה, 'Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches.'

But rather in this let the one who boasts boast, in understanding and knowing me, because I am יהוה, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness in the land, because in these I delight,' says יהוה.

Behold, days are coming, says יהוה, and I will punish every one who is circumcised with the uncircumcised.

Against Mitsrayim, and against Yehudah, and against Edom, and against the sons of Ammon, and against Mo'av, and against all who cut the corners of their hair, who dwell in the desert. Because all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Yisra'el are uncircumcised in heart.
