The word which was to Yirmeyahu from יהוה, saying:

Stand in the gate of the house of יהוה and proclaim there this word and say, Hear the word of יהוה, all Yehudah, you who come in these gates to bow to יהוה.

Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el, Make good your ways and your deeds, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

Do not trust in yourselves in words of falsehood, saying, 'The temple of יהוה, the temple of יהוה, the temple of יהוה are these.'

For if you will surely make good your ways and your deeds, if you will do justice between a man and his neighbor,

A sojourner, an orphan, and a widow you shall not oppress, and innocent blood you shall not shed in this place, and after other elohim you shall not go, to your harm.

And I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land which I gave to your fathers from of old and forever.

Behold, you trust in yourselves in words of falsehood, for no benefit.

Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and offer to the Ba'al, and go after other elohim whom you have not known,

And you will come and stand before me in this house on which my name is called, and say, 'We are delivered,' for the doing of all these abominations?

Has this house, on which my name is called, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Indeed, I also, behold, I have seen, says יהוה.

But go now to my place which is in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Yisra'el.

And now, because you have done all these deeds, says יהוה, and I spoke to you, rising early and speaking, and you did not hear, and I called to you, and you did not answer,

And I will do to the house on which my name is called, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh.

And I will cast you out from my presence, as I have cast out all your brothers, all the offspring of Efrayim.

And you, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up a cry and a prayer for them, and do not plead with me, for I am not hearing you.

Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Yehudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim?

The sons gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to other elohim, to provoke me.

Is it me they provoke? says יהוה. Is it not themselves, to the shame of their faces?

Therefore, thus says Adonai יהוה, Behold, my anger and my fury will be poured out on this place, on man and on beast, and on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.

Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el, Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat.

For I did not speak with your fathers, nor command them on the day I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim, concerning burnt offering and sacrifice.

But rather, this word I commanded them, saying, 'Listen to my voice, and I will be your Elohim, and you shall be my people, and walk in every way that I command you, so that it may be well with you.'

But they did not listen, and did not incline their ear, and walked in the counsels of the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

From the day your fathers came out of the land of Mitsrayim until this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, day after day, sending.

But they did not listen to me, nor incline their ear, but stiffened their neck; they did worse than their fathers.

And you shall speak to them all these words, and they will not listen to you, and you shall call to them, and they will not answer you.

And you shall say to them, This is the nation that did not listen to the voice of יהוה their Elohim, and did not receive correction; faithfulness has perished and is cut off from their mouth.

Cut off your hair and cast it away, and lift up a lamentation on the bare heights, for יהוה has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

For the sons of Yehudah have done evil in my eyes, says יהוה; they have set their abominations in the house on which my name is called, to defile it.

And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my heart.

Therefore, behold, days are coming, says יהוה, and it will no longer be called Topheth, or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter, and they will bury in Topheth because there is no other place.

And the corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the earth, and no one will frighten them away.

And I will cause to cease from the cities of Yehudah and from the streets of Yerushalayim the voice of rejoicing and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, for the land will become a desolation.
