All the commanders of the forces and Yoḥanan son of Kareah and Yizanyahu son of Hosha'yah and all the people from small to great approached.

And they said to Yirmeyahu the prophet, 'Please let our plea fall before you, and pray for us to יהוה your Elohim, for all this remnant, because we are left few from many, as your eyes see us.'

'And יהוה your Elohim will tell us the way in which we should walk, and the thing which we should do.'

And Yirmeyahu the prophet said to them, 'I have heard. Behold, I am praying to יהוה your Elohim according to your words, and it will be that every word which יהוה answers you, I will tell you; I will not withhold anything from you.'

'And they said to Yirmeyahu, 'Let יהוה be between us as a true witness if we do not do according to every word which יהוה your Elohim sends you to us.'

'Whether good or whether bad, by the voice of יהוה our Elohim, to whom we are sending you, we will listen, so that it may be good for us, because we listen to the voice of יהוה our Elohim.'

'And it was at the end of ten days, and the word of יהוה came to Yirmeyahu.'

'And he called Yoḥanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and to all the people from small to great.'

'And he said to them, 'Thus says יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el, to whom you sent me to let your plea fall before Him.'

'If you remain in this land, then I will build you and not tear down, and I will plant you and not uproot, because I have relented concerning the disaster that I have done to you.'

'Do not fear the king of Bavel, whom you fear. Do not fear him,' declares יהוה, 'because I am with you to save you and to rescue you from his hand.'

'And I will give you compassion, and he will have compassion on you, and he will return you to your land.'

'But if you say, 'We will not remain in this land,' not listening to the voice of יהוה your Elohim.'

'Saying, 'No, but we will go into the land of Mitsrayim, where we will not see war, and the sound of the shofar we will not hear, and for bread we will not hunger, and there we will remain.''

'And now, therefore, listen to the word of יהוה, remnant of Yehudah. Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: If you set your faces to go into Mitsrayim and you go to sojourn there.'

'Then the sword, which you fear, there it will overtake you in the land of Mitsrayim, and the famine, which you worry about, there it will cling to you, and there you will die.'

'And it will be that all the men who set their faces to go into Mitsrayim to sojourn there will die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence, and there will be no survivor or escapee for them from the disaster that I am bringing upon them.'

'Because thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Just as my anger and my wrath were poured out on the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, so my wrath will be poured out on you when you go into Mitsrayim, and you will become an oath, and a desolation, and a curse, and a reproach, and you will no longer see this place.'

'יהוה has spoken concerning you, remnant of Yehudah: Do not go into Mitsrayim. Know for sure that I have warned you today.'

'Because you have misled yourselves, because you sent me to יהוה your Elohim, saying, 'Pray for us to יהוה our Elohim, and whatever יהוה our Elohim says, tell us, and we will do it.''

'And I told you today, and you did not listen to the voice of יהוה your Elohim, nor to anything for which He sent me to you.'

'And now, know for sure that by sword, by famine, and by pestilence you will die in the place where you desire to go to sojourn.'
