The word which יהוה spoke to Yirmeyahu in the days of Yəhoyaqim son of Yoshiyahu, king of Yehudah, saying:

Go to the house of the Rekhavim, and speak with them, and bring them into the house of יהוה, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.

And I took Ya'azanyahu son of Yirmeyahu, son of Ḥavatsinyahu, and his brothers, and all his sons, and all the house of the Rekhavim.

And I brought them into the house of יהוה, into the chamber of the sons of Ḥanan son of Yigdalyahu, a man of Elohim, which is beside the chamber of the officials, which is above the chamber of Ma'aseiyahu son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

And I set before the sons of the house of the Rekhavim bowls full of wine, and cups, and I said to them, 'Drink wine.'

But they said, 'We will not drink wine, because Yonadav son of Rekhav our father commanded us, saying, 'You shall not drink wine, you and your sons, forever.'

'You shall not build a house, nor sow seed, nor plant a vineyard, nor shall you have; but in tents you shall dwell all your days, so that you may live many days on the face of the land where you are sojourners.'

'And we listened to the voice of Yonadav son of Rekhav our father, to all that he commanded us, not to drink wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters.'

'And not to build houses for us to dwell in, and we shall not have vineyard, nor field, nor seed.'

'And we dwelt in tents, and we listened, and we did according to all that Yonadav our father commanded us.'

'And it happened when Nevukhadretstsar king of Babel came up against the land, that we said, 'Come, and let us go to Yerushalayim because of the army of the Kasdim, and because of the army of Aram.' And we dwelt in Yerushalayim.

'And the word of יהוה came to Yirmeyahu, saying:'

'Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Go and say to the men of Yehudah and to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, 'Will you not take instruction to listen to my words?' declares יהוה.'

'The commands of Yonadav son of Rekhav, which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, have been kept, and they have not drunk to this day, because they obeyed the command of their father. But I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, and you have not listened to me.'

'And I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying, 'Return, please, each from his evil way, and improve your deeds, and do not go after other elohim to serve them. And return to the land which I gave to you and to your fathers.' But you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.'

'Because the sons of Yonadav son of Rekhav have kept the command of their father, which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to me.'

'Therefore, thus says יהוה, Elohim of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Behold, I am bringing upon Yehudah and upon all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim all the disaster which I have spoken against them, because I spoke to them, and they did not listen, and I called to them, and they did not answer.'

'And to the house of the Rekhavim, Yirmeyahu said, 'Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Because you have listened to the command of Yonadav your father, and you have kept all his commands, and you have done according to all that he commanded you.'

'Therefore, thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: There shall not be cut off from Yonadav son of Rekhav a man to stand before me all the days.'
