The word which was to Yirmeyahu from יהוה, when Nevukhadretstsar king of Bavel and all his army and all the kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand and all the peoples were fighting against Yerushalayim and against all its cities, saying:

Thus says יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el: Go and speak to Tsidqiyahu king of Yehudah and say to him, Thus says יהוה, Behold, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Bavel, and he will burn it with fire.

And you will not escape from his hand, but you will surely be captured, and into his hand you will be given, and your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Bavel, and his mouth will speak with your mouth, and you will go to Bavel.

However, hear the word of יהוה, Tsidqiyahu king of Yehudah, thus says יהוה concerning you: You will not die by the sword.

You will die in peace, and like the burnings for your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will burn for you, and 'Alas, Adonai!' they will lament for you, for I have spoken this word, declares יהוה.

And Yirmeyahu the prophet spoke all these words to Tsidqiyahu king of Yehudah in Yerushalayim.

And the army of the king of Bavel was fighting against Yerushalayim and against all the remaining cities of Yehudah, against Lakish and against 'Azeqah, for these remained of the fortified cities of Yehudah.

The word which was to Yirmeyahu from יהוה, after King Tsidqiyahu had made a covenant with all the people who were in Yerushalayim, to proclaim liberty to them:

To send out each man his male servant and each man his female servant, the Hebrew man and the Hebrew woman, free, so that they would not serve them, a Yehudite, his brother, each man.

And all the officials and all the people who had entered into the covenant heard that each man was sending out his male servant and each man his female servant free, so that they would not serve them anymore, and they heard and sent them out.

And afterward they turned and brought back the male servants and the female servants whom they had sent out free, and they subjugated them to be male servants and female servants.

And the word of יהוה came to Yirmeyahu from יהוה, saying:

Thus says יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el: I myself made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim, from the house of slaves, saying:

At the end of seven years you shall send out each man his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to you, and he shall serve you six years, and you shall send him out free from you. But your fathers did not listen to me, nor did they incline their ear.

And you yourselves turned today and did what was right in my eyes, proclaiming liberty each man to his neighbor, and you made a covenant before me in the house upon which my name is called.

But you turned and profaned my name, and you brought back each man his male servant and each man his female servant, whom you had sent out free according to their desire, and you subjugated them to be your male servants and your female servants.

Therefore, thus says יהוה: You did not listen to me to proclaim liberty, each man to his brother and each man to his neighbor. Behold, I am proclaiming liberty to you, declares יהוה, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine, and I will give you as a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

And I will give the men who transgressed my covenant, who did not establish the words of the covenant which they cut before me, the calf which they cut in two and passed between its pieces.

The officials of Yehudah and the officials of Yerushalayim, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the pieces of the calf.

And I will give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life, and their corpses will be food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the earth.

And Tsidqiyahu king of Yehudah and his officials, I will give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life, and into the hand of the army of the king of Bavel who are coming up against you.

Behold, I am commanding, declares יהוה, and I will bring them back to this city, and they will fight against it, and capture it, and burn it with fire, and the cities of Yehudah I will give as a desolation without an inhabitant.
