And these are the words of the scroll which Yirmeyahu the prophet sent from Yerushalayim to the rest of the elders of the exile, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nevukhadretser had exiled from Yerushalayim to Babel.

After Yekhonya the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, and the officials of Yehudah and Yerushalayim, and the craftsmen, and the smiths had gone out from Yerushalayim.

By the hand of El'asah, son of Shafan, and Gemaryahu, son of Ḥilqiyahu, whom Tsidqiyahu king of Yehudah had sent to Nevukhadretser king of Babel, to Babel, saying:

Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el, to all the exiles whom I have exiled from Yerushalayim to Babel:

Build houses and dwell, and plant gardens and eat their fruit.

Take wives and father sons and daughters, and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to men, and they shall bear sons and daughters, and multiply there, and do not decrease.

And seek the peace of the city to which I have exiled you, and pray for it to יהוה, because in its peace, you will have peace.

For thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Do not let your prophets who are in your midst and your diviners deceive you, and do not listen to your dreams which you dream.

For they prophesy falsely to you in my name; I have not sent them, declares יהוה.

For thus says יהוה: When seventy years are completed for Babel, I will visit you, and I will fulfill my good word to you, to bring you back to this place.

For I know the thoughts that I am thinking concerning you, declares יהוה, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an end and a hope.

And you will call to me, and go, and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

And you will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.

And I will be found by you, declares יהוה, and I will restore your fortunes, and I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, declares יהוה, and I will bring you back to the place from which I exiled you.

Because you said, יהוה has raised up prophets for us in Babel.

For thus says יהוה concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who did not go out with you in the exile.

Thus says יהוה of hosts: Behold, I am sending upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and I will make them like rotten figs which cannot be eaten because they are bad.

And I will pursue them with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and I will make them an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, a curse, and a desolation, and a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them.

Because they have not listened to my words, declares יהוה, which I sent to them by my servants the prophets, sending early and sending, and you have not listened, declares יהוה.

And you, hear the word of יהוה, all you exiles whom I have sent from Yerushalayim to Babel.

Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el, concerning Aḥav, son of Qolayahu, and concerning Tsidqiyahu, son of Ma'aseyah, who prophesy falsely to you in my name: Behold, I am giving them into the hand of Nevukhadretser, king of Babel, and he will strike them before your eyes.

And from them shall be taken a curse for all the exile of Yehudah who are in Babel, saying: May יהוה make you like Tsidqiyahu and like Aḥav, whom the king of Babel roasted in the fire.

Because they have committed a vile deed in Yisra'el, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken a false word in my name, which I did not command them, and I am the one who knows, and I am the witness, declares יהוה.

And to Shma'yahu the Neḥelamite you shall say, saying:

Thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el, saying: Because you yourself sent scrolls in your name to all the people who are in Yerushalayim, and to Tsafanyah, son of Ma'aseyah the priest, and to all the priests, saying:

יהוה has made you priest in place of Yehoyada the priest, to be overseers in the house of יהוה, for every madman and every one who prophesies, and you shall put him in the stocks and in the pillory.

And now, why have you not rebuked Yirmeyahu of Anathoth who prophesies to you?

For because of this, he sent to us in Babel, saying: It will be a long time; build houses and dwell, and plant gardens and eat their fruit.

And Tsafanyah the priest read this scroll in the ears of Yirmeyahu the prophet.

And the word of יהוה came to Yirmeyahu, saying:

Send to all the exiles, saying: Thus says יהוה concerning Shma'yahu the Neḥelamite: Because Shma'yahu has prophesied to you, and I have not sent him, and he has made you trust in a lie.

Therefore, thus says יהוה: Behold, I am visiting upon Shma'yahu the Neḥelamite and upon his offspring; there shall not be to him a man dwelling among this people, and he shall not see the good that I am doing to my people, declares יהוה, because he has spoken rebellion against יהוה.
