יהוה showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs set before the temple of יהוה, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon exiled Yekonyahu son of Yehoyaqim king of Yehudah, and the officials of Yehudah, and the craftsman, and the smith from Yerushalayim, and brought them to Babylon.

One basket, very good figs, like the first ripe figs; and one basket, very bad figs, which cannot be eaten because they are bad.

And יהוה said to me, 'What do you see, Yirmeyahu?' And I said, 'Figs; the good figs are very good, and the bad figs are very bad, which cannot be eaten because they are bad.'

And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

'Thus says יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Like these good figs, so I will regard the exiles of Yehudah, whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Kasdim, for good.'

'And I will set my face on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land, and I will build them up and not tear down, and I will plant them and not uproot.'

'And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am יהוה, and they will be to me for a people, and I will be to them for an Elohim, because they will return to me with all their heart.'

'And like the bad figs which cannot be eaten because they are bad, so says יהוה: Thus I will give Tsidqiyahu king of Yehudah, and his officials, and the remnant of Yerushalayim, those remaining in this land, and those dwelling in the land of Mitsrayim.'

'And I will give them for a terror, for disaster, to all the kingdoms of the earth, for a reproach and for a proverb, for a taunt and for a curse in all the places where I will drive them.'

'And I will send against them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence until they are finished from the land which I gave to them and to their fathers.'
