Cry out with your throat, do not hold back; lift up your voice like a shofar, and declare to my people their rebellion, and to the house of Ya'aqov their sins.

And they seek me day by day, and desire knowledge of my ways; like a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the justice of its Elohim, they ask me for judgments of righteousness; they desire closeness to Elohim.

Why have we fasted and you have not seen? We have humbled our souls and you have not known. Indeed, on the day of your fasting you find pleasure, and you oppress all your workers.

Indeed, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with a fist of wickedness; you do not fast today to make your voice heard on high.

Is this the fast I choose? A day for a person to humble his soul? To bow his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes? Is this what you call a fast, and a day acceptable to יהוה?

Is this not the fast I choose? To loosen the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

Is it not to break your bread for the hungry, and to bring the poor, the homeless, into your house? When you see the naked, to cover him, and from your own flesh not to hide?

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly sprout; and your righteousness will go before you; the glory of יהוה will gather you.

Then you will call, and יהוה will answer; you will cry out, and He will say, 'Here I am.' If you remove from your midst the yoke, the pointing finger, and speaking of iniquity,

And you pour out your soul for the hungry, and satisfy the soul of the afflicted; then your light will shine in the darkness, and your gloom will be like midday.

And יהוה will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; and you will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

And those from you will build the ancient ruins; you will raise the foundations of generation after generation; and you will be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in.

If you turn your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and you call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of יהוה honored, and you honor it, not doing your own ways, not finding your own pleasure, and speaking your own word,

Then you will delight yourself in יהוה, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land, and I will feed you with the inheritance of Ya'aqov your father; for the mouth of יהוה has spoken.
