Listen to me, pursuers of righteousness, seekers of יהוה. Look to the rock from which you were cut, and to the quarry from which you were dug.

Look to Avraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you. For he was one when I called him, and I blessed him and multiplied him.

For יהוה will comfort Tsiyon; he will comfort all her ruins, and will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of יהוה. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

Listen to me, my people, and my nation, give ear to me. For instruction will go out from me, and my justice for a light to the peoples I will set.

My righteousness is near; my salvation has gone out. And my arms will judge the peoples. The islands will wait for me, and for my arm they will hope.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look to the earth beneath. For the heavens will be dissolved like smoke, and the earth will wear out like a garment. And its inhabitants will die like this. But my salvation will be forever, and my righteousness will not be abolished.

Listen to me, you who know righteousness, people whose instruction is in your hearts. Do not fear the reproach of man, and do not be afraid of their insults.

For like a garment the moth will eat them, and like wool the worm will eat them. But my righteousness will be forever, and my salvation for generations.

Awake, awake! Clothe yourself with strength, arm of יהוה! Awake as in the days of old, generations of ancient times. Are you not the one who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon?

Are you not the one who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep? Who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass?

And the redeemed of יהוה will return and come to Tsiyon with singing, and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing will flee away.

I, I myself, am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear man who will die, and the son of man who will be given like grass?

And you have forgotten יהוה your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth. And you have feared continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, as he prepared to destroy. But where is the fury of the oppressor?

The one who is bound will soon be released, and will not die to the pit, and his bread will not be lacking.

But I am יהוה your Elohim, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar. יהוה of hosts is his name.

And I have put my words in your mouth, and have covered you with the shadow of my hand, to plant the heavens and to found the earth, and to say to Tsiyon, 'You are my people.'

Awaken, awaken! Rise up, Yerushalayim, you who have drunk from the hand of יהוה the cup of his fury. You have drunk the dregs of the cup of staggering, you have drained it.

There is no one to guide her among all the sons she has borne. And there is no one to take her hand among all the sons she has raised.

These two things have met you: devastation and destruction, famine and sword. Who will comfort you?

Your sons have fainted; they lie at the head of all the streets, like a wild ox caught in a net, full of the fury of יהוה, the rebuke of your Elohim.

Therefore, hear this now, afflicted one, and drunk, but not from wine.

Thus says your Adonai, יהוה, and your Elohim who pleads for his people: 'Behold, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering, the dregs of the cup of my fury. You will not drink it again.'

And I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, who said to your soul, 'Bow down, so that we may pass over.' And you made your back like the ground, and like the street for those who pass over.
