Thus says יהוה, 'Where is the scroll of your mother's divorce, with which I divorced her? Or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Behold, because of your iniquities you were sold, and because of your transgressions your mother was divorced.

Why did I come, and no man? I called, and no one answered. Is my hand too short to redeem? Or do I not have the power to deliver? Behold, with my rebuke I dry up the sea; I make rivers a desert; their fish stink because there is no water, and they die of thirst.

I clothe the heavens with darkness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Adonai יהוה has given me the tongue of those who are taught, to know how to sustain with a word the weary one. Morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear like those who are taught.

Adonai יהוה opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I did not turn backward.

I gave my back to the strikers, and my cheeks to those who plucked out hair; I did not hide my face from insults and spitting.

And Adonai יהוה will help me; therefore I was not shamed; therefore I set my face like flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.

He who vindicates me is near; who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is my prosecutor? Let him approach me.

Behold, Adonai יהוה will help me; who is he who will condemn me? Behold, all of them will wear out like a garment; the moth will eat them.

Who among you fears יהוה? Let him listen to the voice of his servant. He who walks in darkness and has no light, let him trust in the name of יהוה and lean on his Elohim.

Behold, all of you who kindle fire, who equip yourselves with flaming torches, walk by the light of your fire, and by the torches you have kindled. From my hand this has come to you; you will lie down in torment.
