Look, my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice to the nations.

He will not cry out or raise his voice, nor will he let his voice be heard in the street.

A bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not extinguish. He will faithfully bring forth justice.

He will not grow dim or be discouraged until he has established justice on the earth. Islands will wait for his teaching.

This is what Elohim, יהוה, says, the creator of the heavens and the one who stretches them out, the one who spreads out the earth and its produce, the one who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk on it.

I, יהוה, have called you in righteousness and will hold your hand. I will keep you and make you a covenant for the people, a light for the nations.

To open blind eyes, to bring prisoners from confinement, and those who dwell in darkness from the prison.

I am יהוה; that is my name. I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to carved images.

See, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth, I tell you of them.

Sing to יהוה a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea and all that fills it, you islands and their inhabitants.

Let the desert and its towns raise their voice, the villages where Qedar dwells. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing out, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Let them give glory to יהוה, and declare his praise in the islands.

יהוה will go forth like a warrior; he will stir up zeal like a man of war. He will shout, yes, he will raise a war cry; he will show himself mighty against his enemies.

I have been silent for a long time; I have kept quiet and restrained myself. Now I will cry out like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at the same time.

I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation. I will turn rivers into islands and dry up the pools.

I will lead the blind by a way they do not know; I will guide them on paths they do not know. I will turn darkness before them into light, and rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not abandon them.

Those who trust in idols will turn back in shame, those who say to molded images, 'You are our gods.'

Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, so that you may see.

Who is blind but my servant, or deaf like my messenger whom I send? Who is blind like the one consecrated, or blind like the servant of יהוה?

You see many things, but you do not observe; your ears are open, but you do not hear.

יהוה was pleased, for the sake of his righteousness, to magnify the teaching and make it glorious.

But this is a people plundered and looted, all of them trapped in holes and hidden in prisons. They have become plunder, with no one to rescue them, a spoil with no one saying, 'Return them.'

Who among you will listen to this, will pay attention and hear for the time to come?

Who gave Ya'aqov to be plundered, and Yisra'el to the plunderers? Was it not יהוה, against whom we have sinned? They were unwilling to walk in his ways, and they did not obey his teaching.

So he poured out his wrath upon him, and the force of war. It surrounded him with flames, but he did not know; it burned him, but he did not lay it to heart.
