Comfort, comfort, my people, says your Elohim.

Speak to the heart of Yerushalayim and call out to her, that her service is completed, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the hand of יהוה double for all her sins.

A voice is calling in the wilderness: Prepare the way of יהוה; make straight in the desert a highway for our Elohim.

Every valley will be lifted up, and every mountain and hill will be made low; and the crooked will become straight, and the rough places a plain.

And the glory of יהוה will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together, for the mouth of יהוה has spoken.

A voice says, 'Call out!' And I said, 'What shall I call out?' All flesh is grass, and all its loyalty is like the flower of the field.

The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of יהוה blows on it; surely the people are grass.

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our Elohim stands forever.

Go up on a high mountain, you who bring good news to Tsiyon; lift up your voice with strength, you who bring good news to Yerushalayim; lift it up, do not fear; say to the cities of Yehudah, 'Behold, your Elohim!'

Behold, Adonai יהוה comes with strength, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense is before him.

He will shepherd his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom; he will gently lead those who are nursing.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the heavens with a span, and calculated the dust of the earth with a measure, and weighed the mountains in a scale and the hills in balances?

Who has directed the Spirit of יהוה, or who as his counselor has taught him?

Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? And who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?

Behold, the nations are as a drop from a bucket, and are counted as the fine dust of a scale; behold, he lifts the islands like fine dust.

And Lebanon is not enough fuel, nor its beasts enough for burnt offering.

All the nations are as nothing before him; they are counted to him as less than nothing and emptiness.

To whom then will you liken Elohim, or what likeness will you compare to him?

The idol, a craftsman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold, and casts silver chains for it.

He who is impoverished chooses a tree that will not rot; a skilled craftsman seeks for himself to make an idol that will not totter.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told to you from the beginning? Have you not understood the foundations of the earth?

He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; he stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in.

He brings princes to nothing; he makes the judges of the earth like emptiness.

Scarcely are they planted, scarcely are they sown, scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them, and they wither, and the storm carries them away like stubble.

To whom then will you liken me, that I should be equal, says the Holy One.

Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these things? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and the strength of his power, not one is missing.

Why do you say, O Ya'aqov, and why do you speak, O Yisra'el, 'My way is hidden from יהוה, and my justice passes by my Elohim'?

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The everlasting Elohim, יהוה, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint nor grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

He gives strength to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases power.

Young men will faint and grow weary, and the chosen ones will stumble.

But those who wait for יהוה will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not be weary; they will walk and not faint.
