At that time, Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Ḥizqiyahu, and he heard that he was sick and had recovered.

And Ḥizqiyahu rejoiced over them and showed them his house of treasures, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the good oil, and all his house of vessels, and all that was found in his storehouses; there was nothing that Ḥizqiyahu did not show them in his house and in all his dominion.

And Yesha'yahu the prophet came to King Ḥizqiyahu and said to him, 'What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?' And Ḥizqiyahu said, 'From a distant land they came to me, from Babylon.'

And he said, 'What did they see in your house?' And Ḥizqiyahu said, 'They saw all that is in my house; there was nothing that I did not show them in my storehouses.'

And Yesha'yahu said to Ḥizqiyahu, 'Hear the word of יהוה of hosts.'

'Behold, days are coming, and all that is in your house and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried to Babylon; nothing will remain,' says יהוה.

'And from your sons who will go out from you, whom you will father, they will take, and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.'

And Ḥizqiyahu said to Yesha'yahu, 'Good is the word of יהוה which you have spoken.' And he said, 'For there will be peace and truth in my days.'
