In those days, Ḥizqiyahu became sick, near to death. And Yeshayahu, son of Amots, the prophet, came to him and said to him, 'Thus says יהוה: 'Give orders to your house, for you are dying and will not live.''

And Ḥizqiyahu turned his face to the wall and prayed to יהוה.

And he said, 'Please, יהוה, remember now how I walked before you in truth and with a whole heart, and I did what is good in your eyes.' And Ḥizqiyahu wept a great weeping.

And the word of יהוה came to Yeshayahu, saying:

'Go and say to Ḥizqiyahu, 'Thus says יהוה, the Elohim of David, your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I am adding fifteen years to your days.

And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Ashshur, and I will defend this city.'

And this is the sign for you from יהוה, that יהוה will do this thing that he has spoken:

Behold, I am causing the shadow on the steps, which has gone down on the steps of Aḥaz by the sun, to go back ten steps backward.' And the sun went back ten steps on the steps on which it had gone down.

A writing for Ḥizqiyahu, king of Yehudah, when he was sick and lived from his sickness.

'I said, 'In the prime of my days, I will go to the gates of Sheol; I am deprived of the rest of my years.''

'I said, 'I will not see Yah, Yah, in the land of the living; I will not look on man anymore with the inhabitants of the void.''

'My generation is removed and has departed from me like a shepherd's tent; I have cut off my life like a weaver; from day until night you will finish me.'

'I waited until morning; like a lion, so he breaks all my bones; from day until night you will finish me.'

'Like a swallow, like a crane, so I cry out; I moan like a dove; my eyes grow dim looking upward; Adonai, oppression has come upon me; be my surety.'

'What shall I speak, and he has spoken to me, and he has done it? I will walk slowly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.'

'Adonai, by these things men live, and in all of them is the life of my spirit; and you will heal me and make me live.'

'Behold, for my peace, bitterness; but you have loved my soul from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back.'

'For Sheol does not thank you, death does not praise you; those who go down to the pit do not hope for your truth.'

'The living, the living, he thanks you, as I do today; the father makes known your truth to the children.'

'יהוה, to save me! And my songs, we will sing all the days of our lives in the house of יהוה.'

And Yeshayahu said, 'Let them take a lump of figs and spread it on the boil, and he will live.'

And Ḥizqiyahu said, 'What is the sign that I will go up to the house of יהוה?'
