Woe to those who write unjust decrees and to those who record oppressive rulings,

to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and they may plunder orphans.

And what will you do on the day of punishment, and on the devastation from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your glory?

Without me, they will bow down among the captives, and they will fall among the slain. Despite all this, his anger has not turned away, and his hand is still stretched out.

Woe to Assyria, the staff of my anger, and the rod in their hand is my fury.

I will send him against a godless nation, and I will command him against the people of my wrath to plunder plunder and to seize spoil, and to make them trampled like the mud of the streets.

Therefore, Adonai יהוה Tzevaot will send leanness among his fat ones, and under his glory he will kindle a burning like the burning of fire.

And the light of Yisra'el will become a fire, and his Holy One a flame; it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.

And he will consume the glory of his forest and his fruitful field, from soul to body, and it will be like a wasting away.

And the remnant of the trees of his forest will be few, so that a child can write them down.

And it will happen on that day that the remnant of Yisra'el and the survivors of the house of Ya'aqov will no longer lean on the one who struck them, but will lean on יהוה, the Holy One of Yisra'el, in truth.

A remnant will return, a remnant of Ya'aqov, to El Gibbor.

For though your people, Yisra'el, were like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return; a destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness.

For a complete and decisive destruction Adonai יהוה Tzevaot will carry out in the midst of all the land.

Therefore, thus says Adonai יהוה Tzevaot, 'Do not fear, my people who dwell in Tsiyon, because of Assyria; though he strikes you with a rod, he will lift his staff against you in the way of Mitsrayim.

For in a very little while my indignation will cease, and my anger will be directed at their destruction.

And יהוה Tzevaot will stir up a scourge against him, like the slaughter of Midyan at the rock of Orev; and his staff will be over the sea, and he will lift it in the way of Mitsrayim.

And it will happen on that day that his burden will be removed from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be destroyed because of fatness.

He comes to Ayath, he passes through Migron; at Michmas he stores his baggage.

They cross the pass; at Geba they lodge for the night. Ramah trembles; Gibeah of Sha'ul flees.

Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! Pay attention, Laishah! Poor Anatot!

Madmenah is scattered; the inhabitants of Gebim flee for safety.

Yet today he will halt at Nov; he will shake his fist against the mount of the daughter of Tsiyon, the hill of Yerushalayim.

Behold, Adonai יהוה Tzevaot will lop off the boughs with terror, and the tall of stature will be cut down, and the haughty will be humbled.

And he will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and the Lebanon will fall by a mighty one.
