And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and יהוה had given him rest all around from all his enemies,

That the king said to Nathan the prophet, 'See now, I am dwelling in a house of cedar, and the ark of Elohim is dwelling within a tent curtain.'

And Nathan said to the king, 'All that is in your heart, go, do, for יהוה is with you.'

And it came to pass on that night, that the word of יהוה came to Nathan, saying,

'Go and say to my servant, to David, Thus says יהוה, Do you build for me a house to dwell in?'

'For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought up the sons of Yisra'el from Mitsrayim until this day, and I have been moving about in a tent and in a tabernacle.'

'In all places where I have moved about with all the sons of Yisra'el, have I spoken a word with one of the tribes of Yisra'el, whom I commanded to shepherd my people Yisra'el, saying, Why have you not built for me a house of cedar?'

'And now, thus you shall say to my servant, to David, Thus says יהוה Tzeva'ot, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be a ruler over my people, over Yisra'el.'

'And I was with you wherever you went, and I cut off all your enemies from before you, and I made for you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.'

'And I will appoint a place for my people, for Yisra'el, and I will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and they shall not be moved again, and the sons of wickedness shall not afflict them anymore, as at the first.'

'And from the day that I commanded judges over my people Yisra'el, and I will give you rest from all your enemies, and יהוה will tell you that יהוה will make a house for you.'

'When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.'

'He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.'

'I will be to him for a father, and he shall be to me for a son. When he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of Adam.'

'But my steadfast love shall not depart from him, as I took it from Sha'ul, whom I removed from before you.'

'And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you; your throne shall be established forever.'

'According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.'

'And King David came and sat before יהוה, and he said, 'Who am I, Adonai יהוה, and who is my house, that you have brought me this far?'

'And this was yet a small thing in your eyes, Adonai יהוה, and you have also spoken of your servant's house for a great distance, and this is the law of the man, Adonai יהוה.'

'And what more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Adonai יהוה.'

'For the sake of your word and according to your heart, you have done all this greatness, to make known to your servant.'

'Therefore you are great, יהוה Elohim, for there is none like you, and there is no Elohim besides you, in all that we have heard with our ears.'

'And who is like your people, like Yisra'el? One nation on the earth, whom Elohim went to redeem for himself as a people, and to make for himself a name, and to do for you great and awesome things for your land, before your people whom you redeemed for yourself from Mitsrayim, nations and their elohim.'

'And you have established for yourself your people Yisra'el as a people forever, and you, יהוה, have become their Elohim.'

'And now, יהוה Elohim, the word that you spoke concerning your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever, and do as you have spoken.'

'And may your name be magnified forever, saying, יהוה Tzeva'ot is Elohim over Yisra'el, and may the house of your servant David be established before you.'

'For you, יהוה Tzeva'ot, Elohim of Yisra'el, have revealed the ear of your servant, saying, I will build a house for you. Therefore, your servant has found his heart to pray to you this prayer.'

'And now, Adonai יהוה, you are Elohim, and your words are truth, and you have spoken this good thing to your servant.'

'And now, be pleased and bless the house of your servant, that it may be forever before you, for you, Adonai יהוה, have spoken, and by your blessing the house of your servant shall be blessed forever.'
