And David went a little over the top, and behold, Tsiv'a, servant of Mefivoshet, came to meet him, and a pair of donkeys tied, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred cakes of summer fruit, and a skin of wine.

And the king said to Tsiv'a, What are these for you? And Tsiv'a said, The donkeys are for the king's household to ride, and the bread and the summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for the weary to drink in the wilderness.

And the king said, And where is your master's son? And Tsiv'a said to the king, Behold, he is sitting in Yerushalayim, because he said, Today the house of Yisra'el will return to me the kingdom of my father.

And the king said to Tsiv'a, Behold, to you is all that belongs to Mefivoshet. And Tsiv'a said, I have bowed down; may I find favor in your eyes, my Adonai the king.

And King David came as far as Bakurim, and behold, from there a man came out from the family of the house of Sha'ul, and his name was Shim'i, son of Gera; coming out, he was cursing.

And he threw stones at David and at all the servants of King David, and at all the people and all the warriors, on his right and on his left.

And thus Shim'i said as he cursed, Go out, go out, man of blood, and man of worthlessness!

יהוה has returned upon you all the blood of the house of Sha'ul, in whose place you reigned, and יהוה has given the kingdom into the hand of Avshalom your son, and behold, you are in your evil, because you are a man of blood.

And Avishai, son of Tseruy'ah, said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my Adonai the king? Let me cross over, please, and remove his head.

And the king said, What to me and to you, sons of Tseruy'ah? He is cursing like this, because יהוה said to him, Curse David, and who will say, Why have you done so?

And David said to Avishai and to all his servants, Behold, my son who came out from my body seeks my life, and even more so now the son of Binyamin; let him alone, and let him curse, because יהוה told him.

Perhaps יהוה will look upon my suffering, and יהוה will return to me good in place of his cursing this day.

And David and his men went on the way, and Shim'i went along the side of the mountain opposite him, going and cursing and throwing stones at him and throwing dust.

And the king and all the people who were with him came, weary, and rested there.

And Avshalom and all the men of Yisra'el came to Yerushalayim, and Aḥitofel was with him.

And it happened when Ḥushai the Arkite, David's friend, came to Avshalom, and Ḥushai said to Avshalom, Long live the king! Long live the king!

And Avshalom said to Ḥushai, This is your kindness to your friend; why did you not go with your friend?

And Ḥushai said to Avshalom, No, but rather him whom יהוה has chosen, and this people, and all the men of Yisra'el; to him I will belong, and with him I will dwell.

And secondly, whom shall I serve? Is it not before his son? As I served before your father, so I will be before you.

And Avshalom said to Aḥitofel, Give yourselves counsel; what shall we do?

And Aḥitofel said to Avshalom, Go in to your father's concubines whom he has left to guard the house, and all Yisra'el will hear that you have made yourself repulsive to your father, and the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.

And they pitched a tent for Avshalom on the roof, and Avshalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Yisra'el.

And the counsel of Aḥitofel, which he counseled in those days, was as if one inquired about the word of Elohim; so was all the counsel of Aḥitofel, both to David and to Avshalom.
