And Elisha said, 'Hear the word of יהוה. Thus says יהוה, 'About this time tomorrow, a measure of fine flour for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, will be at the gate of Shomron.''

Then the officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of Elohim and said, 'Look, יהוה is making windows in the heavens; could this thing happen?' And he said, 'Look, you will see with your eyes, but you will not eat from it.'

Now four men were lepers at the entrance of the gate, and they said to one another, 'Why are we sitting here until we die?'

'If we say, 'Let's go into the city,' then the famine is in the city, and we will die there. And if we sit here, we will die. So now, come, and let's fall into the camp of Aram. If they keep us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will die.'

So they got up at twilight to go to the camp of Aram, and they came to the outskirts of the camp of Aram, and behold, no one was there.

For Adonai had caused the camp of Aram to hear the sound of chariots, the sound of horses, the sound of a great army. And they said to one another, 'Behold, the king of Yisra'el has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Mitsrayim to come against us.'

Therefore they got up and fled in the twilight, and abandoned their tents, and their horses, and their donkeys, the camp just as it was, and fled for their lives.

And these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, and they went into one tent, and ate and drank, and carried from there silver, and gold, and clothing, and went and hid them. Then they returned and went into another tent, and carried from there, and went and hid them.

Then they said to one another, 'We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we are silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will find us. So now, come, let's go and tell the king's household.'

So they came and called to the gatekeepers of the city and told them, saying, 'We came to the camp of Aram, and behold, no man was there, nor the sound of a man, but only horses tied, and donkeys tied, and the tents just as they were.'

And the gatekeepers called, and they told it inside the king's household.

And the king got up at night and said to his servants, 'Let me tell you what Aram has done to us. They know that we are hungry, and they have gone out from the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, 'When they come out of the city, we will capture them alive, and we will go into the city.''

And one of his servants answered and said, 'Please, let them take five of the remaining horses that are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Yisra'el who are left in it; they are like all the multitude of Yisra'el who have perished. So let's send and see.'

So they took two horse chariots, and the king sent after the camp of Aram, saying, 'Go and see.'

And they went after them to the Jordan, and behold, the whole road was full of clothing and vessels that the Arameans had thrown away in their haste. And the messengers returned and told the king.

And the people went out and plundered the camp of Aram. And it came to pass that a measure of fine flour was for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of יהוה.

And the king appointed the officer on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him at the gate, and he died, just as the man of Elohim had said, when the king spoke to him.

And it happened as the man of Elohim had spoken to the king, saying, 'Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, will be this time tomorrow at the gate of Shomron.'

And the officer answered the man of Elohim and said, 'And behold, יהוה is making windows in the heavens; could this thing happen?' And he said, 'Behold, you will see with your eyes, but you will not eat from it.'

And it happened to him just so, and the people trampled him at the gate, and he died.
