And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, 'Look, the place where we are dwelling before you is too narrow for us.'

'Let us go, please, to the Yarden, and let us take from there each man one log, and let us make for ourselves there a place to dwell there.' And he said, 'Go.'

And one said, 'Be pleased, please, and go with your servants.' And he said, 'I will go.'

And he went with them. And they came to the Yarden and they cut wood.

And it happened, one was felling a log, and the iron fell into the water. And he cried out and said, 'Alas, my master! And it was borrowed.'

And the man of Elohim said, 'Where did it fall?' And he showed him the place. And he cut a stick and threw it there, and the iron floated.

And he said, 'Pick it up for yourself.' And he stretched out his hand and took it.

And the king of Aram was fighting against Yisra'el, and he consulted with his servants, saying, 'To such and such a place, my encampment.'

And the man of Elohim sent to the king of Yisra'el, saying, 'Be warned to not pass by this place, for there the Arameans are descending.'

And the king of Yisra'el sent to the place which the man of Elohim told him, and warned him, and he was kept safe there, not once and not twice.

And the heart of the king of Aram was stirred up concerning this matter, and he called his servants and said to them, 'Will you not tell me who of ours is with the king of Yisra'el?'

And one of his servants said, 'No, my master, O king, but Elisha the prophet who is in Yisra'el tells the king of Yisra'el the words which you speak in your bedchamber.'

And he said, 'Go and see where he is, and I will send and capture him.' And it was told to him, saying, 'Look, he is in Dothan.'

And he sent there horses and chariots and a great army. And they came by night and surrounded the city.

And the servant of the man of Elohim got up early and went out, and look, an army surrounded the city, and horses and chariots. And his young man said to him, 'Alas, my master! How shall we do?'

And he said, 'Do not fear, for those with us are more than those with them.'

And Elisha prayed and said, 'יהוה, please open his eyes, that he may see.' And יהוה opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And look, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha.

And they came down to him, and Elisha prayed to יהוה and said, 'Please strike this nation with blindness.' And he struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

And Elisha said to them, 'This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man whom you seek.' And he led them to Shomron.

And it happened, when they came to Shomron, Elisha said, 'יהוה, open the eyes of these, that they may see.' And יהוה opened their eyes, and they saw, and look, they were in the midst of Shomron.

And the king of Yisra'el said to Elisha, when he saw them, 'Shall I strike them, my father?'

And he said, 'You shall not strike. Would you strike those whom you captured with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, and let them eat and drink, and let them go to their master.'

And he prepared a great feast for them, and they ate and drank. And he sent them away, and they went to their masters. And the raiding bands of Aram did not again come into the land of Yisra'el.

And it happened after this, that Ben-Hadad king of Aram gathered all his army, and he went up and besieged Shomron.

And there was a great famine in Shomron, and look, they besieged it until the head of a donkey was eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter-kab of dove's dung was five shekels of silver.

And it happened, the king of Yisra'el was passing over the wall, and a woman cried out to him, saying, 'Help, my master, O king.'

And he said, 'May יהוה not help you. From where shall I help you? From the threshing floor? Or from the wine press?'

And the king said to her, 'What is wrong with you?' And the woman said, 'This woman said to me, Give your son, and let us eat him today, and let us eat my son tomorrow.'

And we boiled my son and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, 'Give your son, and let us eat him.' And she hid her son.

And it happened, when the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes, and he was passing over the wall. And the people looked, and look, sackcloth was on his flesh from within.

And he said, 'May Elohim do so to me, and may He add more, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remains on him today.'

And Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And he sent a man from before him, before the messenger came to him. And he said to the elders, 'Have you seen that the son of this murderer has sent to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, close the door and press him with the door. Is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?'

He was still speaking with them, and look, the messenger was coming down to him. And he said, 'Look, this disaster is from יהוה. Why should I wait for יהוה any longer?'
