And one woman from the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, 'Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you know that your servant feared יהוה. And the creditor has come to take my two sons to be slaves to him.'

And Elisha said to her, 'What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?' And she said, 'Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.'

And he said, 'Go, borrow for yourself vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels, do not spare.'

'And you shall come in and shut the door behind you and behind your sons, and you shall pour into all these vessels, and you shall set aside the full ones.'

'And she went from him, and she shut the door behind her and behind her sons. They were bringing vessels to her, and she was pouring.'

'And it came to pass when the vessels were full, she said to her son, 'Bring me another vessel.' And he said to her, 'There is no longer a vessel.' And the oil stopped.'

'And she came and told the man of Elohim. And he said, 'Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons shall live from the remainder.'

'And it came to pass one day, and Elisha passed over to Shunem, and a great woman was there, and she seized him to eat bread. And it was whenever he passed over, he would turn aside there to eat bread.'

'And she said to her husband, 'Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of Elohim who passes over us continually.'

'Let us make, please, a small upper room, and let us put for him there a bed, and a table, and a chair, and a lamp, and it shall be when he comes to us, he will turn aside there.'

'And it came to pass one day, and he came there, and he turned aside to the upper room and lay down there.'

'And he said to Gehazi, his servant, 'Call this Shunammite woman.' And he called her, and she stood before him.'

'And he said to him, 'Say now to her, 'Behold, you have been concerned for us with all this concern. What shall I do for you? Is there something to speak for you to the king or to the commander of the army?' And she said, 'In the midst of my people I dwell.'

'And he said, 'And what shall be done for her?' And Gehazi said, 'But she has no son, and her husband is old.'

'And he said, 'Call her.' And he called her, and she stood at the opening.'

'And he said, 'At this appointed time, about this time next year, you shall embrace a son.' And she said, 'No, my master, man of Elohim, do not lie to your servant.'

'And the woman conceived and bore a son at that appointed time, about this time next year, just as Elisha had spoken to her.'

'And the boy grew, and it came to pass one day, and he went out to his father to the reapers.'

'And he said to his father, 'My head! My head!' And he said to the young man, 'Carry him to his mother.'

'And he took him and brought him to his mother, and he sat on her knees until noon, and he died.'

'And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of Elohim, and she shut the door behind him, and went out.'

'And she called to her husband and said, 'Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, and I will run to the man of Elohim and return.'

'And he said, 'Why are you going to him today? It is not a new moon, nor a Sabbath.' And she said, 'Peace.'

'And she saddled the donkey and said to her servant, 'Drive and go; do not stop for me to ride, unless I tell you.'

'And she went and came to the man of Elohim at Mount Carmel. And it came to pass when the man of Elohim saw her from afar, he said to Gehazi, his servant, 'Behold, this Shunammite woman.'

'Now, please run to meet her, and say to her, 'Is it peace for you? Is it peace for your husband? Is it peace for the boy?' And she said, 'Peace.'

'And she came to the man of Elohim at the mountain and seized his feet. And Gehazi came near to push her away. And the man of Elohim said, 'Let her alone, for her soul is bitter within her, and יהוה has hidden it from me and has not told me.'

'And she said, 'Did I ask for a son from my master? Did I not say, 'Do not deceive me'?'

'And he said to Gehazi, 'Gird your loins and take my staff in your hand and go. If you meet a man, do not greet him, and if anyone greets you, do not answer him. And you shall put my staff on the face of the boy.'

'And the boy's mother said, 'As יהוה lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.' And he arose and went after her.'

'And Gehazi passed on before them and put the staff on the face of the boy, and there was no voice and no response. And he returned to meet him and told him, saying, 'The boy has not awakened.'

'And Elisha came into the house, and behold, the boy was dead, lying on his bed.'

'And he went in and shut the door behind the two of them and prayed to יהוה.'

'And he went up and lay on the boy and put his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands, and he bent over him, and the flesh of the boy grew warm.'

'And he returned and walked in the house one time here and one time there, and he went up and bent over him, and the boy sneezed seven times, and the boy opened his eyes.'

'And he called Gehazi and said, 'Call this Shunammite woman.' And he called her, and she came to him, and he said, 'Take up your son.'

'And she came and fell on his feet and bowed herself to the ground, and she took up her son and went out.'

'And Elisha returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land, and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him. And he said to his servant, 'Put the large pot on and cook stew for the sons of the prophets.'

'And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and he found a wild vine and gathered from it wild gourds, a lapful, and he came and cut them up into the pot of stew, for they did not know.'

'And they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass as they were eating from the stew, and they cried out and said, 'Death in the pot, man of Elohim!' And they could not eat.'

And he said, 'Take flour and throw it into the pot.' And he said, 'Pour for the people so they may eat.' And there was no bad thing in the pot.

And a man came from Baal Shalishah, and he brought to the man of Elohim bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And he said, 'Give to the people so they may eat.'

And his attendant said, 'What shall I give this before a hundred men?' And he said, 'Give to the people so they may eat, because this is what יהוה says: 'They shall eat and there shall be leftovers.''

'And he gave it before them, and they ate, and there were leftovers, according to the word of יהוה.
