And Yehoram son of Aḥav began to reign over Yisra'el in Shomron in the eighteenth year of Yehoshafat king of Yehudah, and he reigned twelve years.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, but not like his father and like his mother, and he removed the pillar of the Ba'al that his father made.

Only in the sins of Yarov'am son of Nevat, with which he caused Yisra'el to sin, he clung, he did not turn from them.

And Mesha king of Mo'av was a sheep breeder, and he returned to the king of Yisra'el one hundred thousand lambs and one hundred thousand rams of wool.

And it happened after the death of Aḥav, that the king of Mo'av rebelled against the king of Yisra'el.

And King Yehoram went out on that day from Shomron, and he mustered all Yisra'el.

And he went and sent to Yehoshafat king of Yehudah, saying, 'The king of Mo'av has rebelled against me; will you go with me to Mo'av for war?' And he said, 'I will go up; as I am, so are you; as my people, so are your people; as my horses, so are your horses.'

And he said, 'Which way shall we go up?' And he said, 'By the way of the wilderness of Edom.'

And the king of Yisra'el went, and the king of Yehudah, and the king of Edom, and they went around by the way of seven days, and there was no water for the camp and for the animals that were with their feet.

And the king of Yisra'el said, 'Alas! For יהוה has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Mo'av.'

And Yehoshafat said, 'Is there not here a prophet of יהוה, that we may inquire of יהוה through him?' And one of the servants of the king of Yisra'el answered and said, 'Here is Elisha son of Shafat, who used to pour water on the hands of Eliyahu.'

And Yehoshafat said, 'The word of יהוה is with him.' And the king of Yisra'el went down, and Yehoshafat, and the king of Edom, to him.

And Elisha said to the king of Yisra'el, 'What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father and to the prophets of your mother.' And the king of Yisra'el said to him, 'No, for יהוה has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Mo'av.'

And Elisha said, 'As יהוה of hosts lives, before whom I stand, if it were not for the face of Yehoshafat king of Yehudah, I would not look at you, nor would I see you.'

And now, bring me a musician.' And it happened, as the musician played, that the hand of יהוה came upon him.

And he said, 'Thus says יהוה, Make this wadi full of cisterns, full of cisterns.'

For thus says יהוה, You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain, and this wadi shall be filled with water, and you shall drink, you, and your livestock, and your animals.'

And this is a small thing in the eyes of יהוה, and he will also give Mo'av into your hand.

And you shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and fell every good tree, and stop up every spring of water, and ruin every good field with stones.'

And it happened in the morning, at the time of the offering of the meal, that behold, water came from the direction of Edom, and the land was filled with the water.

And all Mo'av heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, and they called out from everyone who girded a belt and upward, and they stood on the border.

And they rose early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and Mo'av saw from a distance the water, red like blood.

And they said, 'This is blood; the kings have surely fought, and each has struck his neighbor, and now to the spoil, Mo'av!'

And they came to the camp of Yisra'el, and Yisra'el rose up and struck Mo'av, and they fled from before them, and they struck them, striking Mo'av.

And they destroyed the cities, and threw down every good field, each man with his stone, and filled it, and stopped up every spring of water, and felled every good tree, until only its stone walls remained, and the slingers surrounded and struck it.

And the king of Mo'av saw that the war was too strong for him, and he took seven hundred men who drew swords to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not.

And he took his firstborn son, who would reign in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering on the wall, and there was great wrath upon Yisra'el, and they moved away from him and returned to their land.
