Menashe was twelve years old when he began to rule, and he ruled fifty-five years in Yerushalayim, and the name of his mother was Ḥefzi-bah.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, according to the abominations of the nations whom יהוה dispossessed before the children of Yisra'el.

And he turned and rebuilt the high places which Ḥizqiyahu his father had destroyed, and he set up altars to the Ba'al, and made an 'asherah, as Aḥ'av king of Yisra'el had done, and he bowed down to all the host of the heavens and served them.

And he built altars in the house of יהוה, concerning which יהוה had said, 'In Yerushalayim I will put my name.'

And he built altars to all the host of the heavens in the two courtyards of the house of יהוה.

And he caused his son to pass through fire, and he practiced divination and used omens, and he made a spirit medium and a wizard; he greatly increased doing evil in the eyes of יהוה, to provoke Him.

And he set the carved image of the 'asherah, which he had made, in the house concerning which יהוה had said to David and to Shelomoh his son, 'In this house and in Yerushalayim, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Yisra'el, I will put my name forever.'

'And I will no longer cause the foot of Yisra'el to be moved from the land which I gave to their fathers, only if they will be careful to do according to all that I commanded them, and according to all the law which my servant Mosheh commanded them.'

But they did not listen, and Menashe led them astray to do evil more than the nations whom יהוה had destroyed before the children of Yisra'el.

And יהוה spoke by the hand of his servants the prophets, saying:

'Because Menashe king of Yehudah has done these abominations, and has done more evil than all the Emorites who were before him, and has also caused Yehudah to sin with his idols.'

'Therefore, thus says יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el: Behold, I am bringing evil upon Yerushalayim and Yehudah, so that everyone who hears of it will have his ears tingle.'

'And I will stretch over Yerushalayim the measuring line of Shomron, and the plumb line of the house of Aḥ'av, and I will wipe Yerushalayim clean, as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.'

'And I will abandon the remnant of my inheritance, and I will give them into the hand of their enemies, and they will become plunder and spoil to all their enemies.'

'Because they have done evil in my eyes, and they have provoked me from the day their fathers came out of Mitsrayim until this day.'

'And also, Menashe shed much innocent blood, until he filled Yerushalayim from end to end, besides his sin with which he caused Yehudah to sin, to do evil in the eyes of יהוה.'

'And the rest of the deeds of Menashe, and all that he did, and his sin which he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?'

'And Menashe rested with his fathers, and he was buried in his burial place in the garden of his house, in the garden of 'Uzza, and Amon his son reigned in his place.'

'Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to rule, and he ruled two years in Yerushalayim, and the name of his mother was Meshullemeth daughter of Ḥarutz from Yoṭbah.'

'And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, as Menashe his father had done.'

'And he walked in all the way in which his father had walked, and he served the idols which his father had served, and he bowed down to them.'

'And he abandoned יהוה, Elohim of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of יהוה.'

'And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and they killed the king in his house.'

'And the people of the land struck down all who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Yoshiyyahu his son king in his place.'

'And the rest of the deeds of Amon, which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?'

'And they buried him in his burial place in the garden of 'Uzza, and Yoshiyyahu his son reigned in his place.'
