In those days, Ḥizqiyahu became sick, near death. And Yeshayahu, son of Amoṣ, the prophet, came to him and said to him, 'Thus says יהוה: Command your household, for you are dying and will not live.'

And he turned his face to the wall and prayed to יהוה, saying:

'Please, יהוה, remember now how I walked before you in truth and with a whole heart, and I did what is good in your eyes.' And Ḥizqiyahu wept a great weeping.

And it happened, Yeshayahu had not yet gone out into the middle court, and the word of יהוה came to him, saying:

'Return and say to Ḥizqiyahu, leader of my people, Thus says יהוה, the Elohim of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I am healing you. On the third day, you will go up to the house of יהוה.'

'And I will add fifteen years to your days. And from the hand of the king of Ashshur I will deliver you and this city. And I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.'

And Yeshayahu said, 'Take a lump of figs.' And they took and placed it on the boil, and he lived.

And Ḥizqiyahu said to Yeshayahu, 'What is the sign that יהוה will heal me, and that I will go up to the house of יהוה on the third day?'

And Yeshayahu said, 'This is the sign for you from יהוה, that יהוה will do the thing that he has spoken: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it return ten steps?'

And Ḥizqiyahu said, 'It is a small thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps; let the shadow return backward ten steps.'

And Yeshayahu the prophet cried to יהוה, and he brought the shadow back on the steps, the steps which had gone down on the steps of Aḥaz, backward ten steps.

At that time, Berodakh-Baladan, son of Baladan, king of Babel, sent letters and a gift to Ḥizqiyahu, for he heard that Ḥizqiyahu had been sick.

And Ḥizqiyahu heard them and showed them all his house of treasures, the silver and the gold and the spices and the good oil, and his house of weapons, and all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing that Ḥizqiyahu did not show them in his house and in all his dominion.

And Yeshayahu the prophet came to King Ḥizqiyahu and said to him, 'What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?' And Ḥizqiyahu said, 'From a distant land they came, from Babel.'

And he said, 'What did they see in your house?' And Ḥizqiyahu said, 'They saw all that is in my house. There was nothing that I did not show them in my storehouses.'

And Yeshayahu said to Ḥizqiyahu, 'Hear the word of יהוה.'

'Behold, days are coming when all that is in your house and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried to Babel. Nothing will remain,' says יהוה.

'And from your sons who will go out from you, whom you will father, they will be taken and will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babel.'

And Ḥizqiyahu said to Yeshayahu, 'Good is the word of יהוה which you have spoken.' And he said, 'Will there not be peace and truth in my days?'

And the rest of the deeds of Ḥizqiyahu, and all his might, and how he made the pool and the channel and brought the water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?

And Ḥizqiyahu lay down with his fathers, and Menashsheh his son reigned in his place.
