In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remalyahu, Ahaz son of Yotam, king of Yehudah, began to reign.

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Yerushalayim. He did not do what was right in the eyes of יהוה his Elohim, like David his ancestor.

He walked in the way of the kings of Yisra'el, and also he made his son pass through fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom יהוה dispossessed before the sons of Yisra'el.

He sacrificed and made offerings on the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.

Then Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah son of Remalyahu, king of Yisra'el, came up to Yerushalayim for war, and they besieged Ahaz, but could not fight.

At that time Rezin, king of Aram, restored Elat to Aram, and he dispossessed the Yehudim from Elat. And the Edomites came to Elat and lived there until this day.

Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser, king of Ashshur, saying, 'I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the hand of the king of Aram and from the hand of the king of Yisra'el who are rising against me.'

Ahaz took the silver and the gold found in the house of יהוה and in the treasuries of the king's house, and sent a gift to the king of Ashshur.

The king of Ashshur listened to him, and the king of Ashshur went up to Damascus and captured it, and exiled its inhabitants to Qir, and he killed Rezin.

King Ahaz went to meet Tiglath-Pileser, king of Ashshur, in Damascus. When the king saw the altar that was in Damascus, King Ahaz sent to Uriyah the priest a drawing of the altar and its design, according to all its workmanship.

Uriyah the priest built the altar. According to all that King Ahaz sent from Damascus, so Uriyah the priest made it, until King Ahaz came from Damascus.

The king came from Damascus, and the king saw the altar. The king approached the altar and offered upon it.

He made his burnt offering and his grain offering smoke, and poured out his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings on the altar.

And the bronze altar that was before יהוה, he brought from the front of the house, from between the altar and the house of יהוה, and set it on the north side of the altar.

King Ahaz commanded Uriyah the priest, saying, 'On the great altar, make the morning burnt offering smoke and the evening grain offering smoke, and the king's burnt offering and his grain offering, and the burnt offering of all the people of the land and their grain offerings and their drink offerings. And all the blood of burnt offerings and all the blood of sacrifices you shall sprinkle on it. And the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire.'

Uriyah the priest did according to all that King Ahaz commanded.

King Ahaz cut off the frames of the bases and removed from them the lavers, and took down the Sea from the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stones.

And the covered walkway for the Sabbath, which they had built in the house, and the outer entrance for the king, he turned away from the house of יהוה because of the king of Ashshur.

The rest of the deeds of Ahaz, which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?

Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
