In the twenty-third year of Yo'ash son of Aḥazyahu, king of Yehudah, Yo'aḥaz son of Yehu began to rule over Yisra'el in Shomron, for seventeen years.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, and he went after the sins of Yarov'am son of Nevat, which he caused Yisra'el to sin with; he did not turn from them.

And the anger of יהוה burned against Yisra'el, and he gave them into the hand of Ḥaza'el king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Ḥadad son of Ḥaza'el, all the days.

And Yo'aḥaz pleaded with the face of יהוה, and יהוה listened to him, because he saw the oppression of Yisra'el, because the king of Aram oppressed them.

And יהוה gave Yisra'el a savior, and they went out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Yisra'el lived in their tents as before.

Only, they did not turn from the sins of the house of Yarov'am, which he caused Yisra'el to sin with; and the Asherah also stood in Shomron.

For he did not leave Yo'aḥaz people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, because the king of Aram destroyed them, and made them like dust to be threshed.

And the rest of the words of Yo'aḥaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?

And Yo'aḥaz lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in Shomron, and Yo'ash his son began to rule in his place.

In the thirty-seventh year of Yo'ash king of Yehudah, Yo'ash son of Yo'aḥaz began to rule over Yisra'el in Shomron, for sixteen years.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה; he did not turn from all the sins of Yarov'am son of Nevat, which he caused Yisra'el to sin with; he went in them.

And the rest of the words of Yo'ash, and all that he did, and his might, how he fought with Amaṣyah king of Yehudah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?

And Yo'ash lay down with his fathers, and Yarov'am sat on his throne, and Yo'ash was buried in Shomron with the kings of Yisra'el.

And Elisha was sick with his sickness of which he would die, and Yo'ash king of Yisra'el went down to him, and he wept over his face, and said, 'My father, my father, the chariot of Yisra'el and its horsemen!'

And Elisha said to him, 'Take a bow and arrows.' And he took a bow and arrows for himself.

And he said to the king of Yisra'el, 'Put your hand on the bow.' And he put his hand, and Elisha put his hands on the hands of the king.

And he said, 'Open the window eastward.' And he opened. And Elisha said, 'Shoot.' And he shot. And he said, 'An arrow of salvation from יהוה, and an arrow of salvation against Aram, and you will strike Aram in Afek until destruction.'

And he said, 'Take the arrows.' And he took. And he said to the king of Yisra'el, 'Strike the ground.' And he struck three times and stopped.

And the man of Elohim was angry with him, and said, 'To strike five or six times, then you would have struck Aram until destruction, but now three times you will strike Aram.'

And Elisha died, and they buried him. And bands of Mo'av came into the land in the following year.

And it happened, as they were burying a man, behold, they saw the band, and they threw the man into the grave of Elisha. And he went and touched the bones of Elisha, and he lived and stood on his feet.

And Ḥaza'el king of Aram oppressed Yisra'el all the days of Yo'aḥaz.

And יהוה favored them, and had compassion on them, and turned to them because of his covenant with Avraham, Yitsḥaq, and Ya'aqov, and he was not willing to destroy them, and he did not cast them from his presence until this time.

And Ḥaza'el king of Aram died, and Ben-Ḥadad his son began to rule in his place.

And Yo'ash son of Yo'aḥaz returned and took the cities from the hand of Ben-Ḥadad son of Ḥaza'el, which he took from the hand of Yo'aḥaz his father in war. Three times Yo'ash struck him and returned the cities of Yisra'el.
